<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hi everyone. Gosh it’s a long time since my last blog but I wanted to post this evening as this will link to my article in this month’s edition of ‘Making Cards and Papercraft’ magazine. I’m so grateful to Sally Stirling and her team who allow me to contribute articles from time to time. This month I contributed a project that involved creating Vintage Collage cards. Collage is great fun but also a good way to use up all those left overs! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cK4MHlk3Qrg/XoIeZlMTM6I/AAAAAAAAbE0/ZJIWo5zLOWoMFfu-XQGbv-rKmvlhn6wbQCKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_2005.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cK4MHlk3Qrg/XoIeZlMTM6I/AAAAAAAAbE0/ZJIWo5zLOWoMFfu-XQGbv-rKmvlhn6wbQCKgBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_2005.HEIC" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As you can see, I grab a host of stash and then select from it to fit each theme. So how did I get started? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pjGbijDx63A/XoIe01R365I/AAAAAAAAbE8/whoVBNFIIMAWQWYrYfL3YPSacSqs5uyiwCKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_1928.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pjGbijDx63A/XoIe01R365I/AAAAAAAAbE8/whoVBNFIIMAWQWYrYfL3YPSacSqs5uyiwCKgBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_1928.HEIC" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As with most of my projects, I started by scraping some heavy white gesso through a few of my favourite stencils. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7e6TPT9wTyQ/XoIfLwkwHBI/AAAAAAAAbFQ/7yKMAlHcL3gCAY6owySMxuHP-LEeUR4tgCKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_1926.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7e6TPT9wTyQ/XoIfLwkwHBI/AAAAAAAAbFQ/7yKMAlHcL3gCAY6owySMxuHP-LEeUR4tgCKgBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_1926.HEIC" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These were AALL & Create stencils! Once the raised gesso was dry, I used various Distress Oxide sprays to spray in different areas of the card. All the products I used are itemised in the magazine article so I don’t want to repeat it here. (<a href="http://www.makingcardsmagazine.co.uk/" target="_blank">www.makingcardsmagazine.co.uk</a>) For the magazine I created four DL cards but in actual fact I made several small cards at the same time. I will use these for Thankyou Cards. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ups_5AVDlAM/XoIgQQopK9I/AAAAAAAAbFo/6gI0yIxuQ50Cu3BLBX5HvrPlbiAcH2b0gCKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_1991.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1201" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ups_5AVDlAM/XoIgQQopK9I/AAAAAAAAbFo/6gI0yIxuQ50Cu3BLBX5HvrPlbiAcH2b0gCKgBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_1991.HEIC" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I generally waited for each colour to settle before adding more colours. I used three different, analogous colours on each card. I then let these dry naturally before I added any background stamping. Various background stamps were used around the edges mainly and avoiding any areas where I knew I’d be adhering collage items. I used complementary Distress Oxide ink pads to stamp with. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sE9J6Mvyikw/XoIhkJrXcbI/AAAAAAAAbF0/s37R08S-Pt8TDN_hs9gvkWSS4VAn-Vn-QCKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_2008.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1426" data-original-width="1600" height="285" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sE9J6Mvyikw/XoIhkJrXcbI/AAAAAAAAbF0/s37R08S-Pt8TDN_hs9gvkWSS4VAn-Vn-QCKgBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_2008.HEIC" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once I’d decided on a theme for each card, I selected some stamp images to act as my main focus before selecting various items from my stash to complement them and trialled an arrangement to my liking on each card. For the first flat layers I just used a PVA glue but for the dimensional items I used silicone glue. This helped to raise them to create varied layers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For the butterfly card I stamped the butterfly several times on vintage text pages. It involved quite a bit of fussy cutting but by layering them several times on top of each other creates a lovely textural effect for the wings. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UObaU-sr-Jw/XoIkv4esXjI/AAAAAAAAbGg/jB6ODghzYZMizxbthaVH1K3y02jCGM9ygCKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_2016.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UObaU-sr-Jw/XoIkv4esXjI/AAAAAAAAbGg/jB6ODghzYZMizxbthaVH1K3y02jCGM9ygCKgBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_2016.HEIC" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As you can see from this particular card, the theme of butterflies dominates the selection of items. The base layer is a strip of Prima card which happened to have butterflies featured on it. It’s surprising how many items you can find in your stash that can relate to your theme once you start looking. I do hope this post has inspired you to collect items from your own stash to create some cards during this long period of us all self-isolating. Send a card to cheer someone up if you can! I can’t send these particular ones as I haven’t received them back yet but I did create some small ones that I posted as RAKs for some of my family and friends. However you are spending your closeted days, I do hope you can find time to craft. It’s great therapy! A close up of the others: </div>

Hi everyone. Many thanks for popping over if you saw this first on FB or Twitter. For the last four years several arty friends and I have got together to each create an art journal which we then pass between ourselves i.e. a circle. Each year we select a different theme. This year we each decided on a colour/colours that we used in everyone’s journal as they arrived, through the post, on a monthly basis. We did have a few bumps along the way (e.g.unfortunately this year one member didn’t manage to complete a page in my journal and in a previous year my journal was completely lost somewhere in Royal Mail!) but generally it works out pretty well. My colour choices were: Hot Pink and Orange. I thoroughly enjoyed spending hours - sometimes days - creating pages in my friends’ journals reflecting these colours. I endeavoured each time to produce original and unique pages. And now it is my turn to look through my wonderful pages to see the art all but one member created just for me. To say I’m grateful is an understatement. I’m wowed and awed by their beautiful efforts!<br />

First, here are the pages I completed before it started its journey. Remember, my colour choices were: Hot Pink and Orange - my go-to colours! </div>

I am absolutely blown away by these pages. Lin has such a great understanding of colours and how to organise a page. I learn a great deal from her quiet, unassuming influence. Don’t you just adore those ‘inchies’ all around each page! Wow! I absolutely love it! Texture, layers, colour - it’s all there in abundance. Thankyou my dear friend. I’m sure you spent hours on these beautiful pages. </div>

The gorgeous pages above were created by Claire Snowden. The layered colours deserve a close up view. They are gorgeous! I haven’t stopped stroking this spread. Fantastic. Rebecca Hill completed four pages next as she created the clever idea of looking through windows and leaving through a back door. I love it. Such a clever idea! </div>

It’s lovely isn’t it? I love the whole idea as well as the creative pages. Now for the drama of Sarah Dunkley’s pages:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sarah’s artwork is so expressive. I am so grateful to you Sarah for finding the time and energy to complete each journal on time when you have so much going on in your life. I’m humbled and inspired in equal measure. Your pages are always dynamic and lively. I adore each one you have completed but this is very special. Thankyou so much xxx</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My final pages are created by my dear and Uber-talented friend, Millie Moss. Her colour choice was inspired. This is a colour combination I am now going to be playing around with because I love it so much. It’s so fitting that the last two pages should be autumnal as we are now enjoying the last few September days and entering into an artist’s paintbox of colour that is Autumn. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thank you so much Millie. I know how difficult these last few months have been for you but you have never let anyone down. Indeed your art just jumps off the page. Each spread you have produced has been a celebration of colour. I’ve adored seeing every one. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And that’s it folks. A walk through my gorgeous 4th Circle Journal. Each year the art work gets more creative and inspiring. Will there be a 5th round?? I hope so. Thankyou to my lovely Circle friends, from the bottom of my heart. </div>

I hope you are enjoying a crafty weekend or looking for inspiration to get your mojo fired up! Sometimes when I’m lost for ideas, a quick scan through my many magazines will provide me with renewed inspiration. In this way, I love to rediscover old techniques like this one: Triple embossing and the Intaglio technique. I offered a project using these techniques to Sally Stirling (Jarvis) at ‘ Making Cards and Papercraft’ as part of her regular ‘Techniques’ section and it was accepted in this month’s edition (October). I find it so exciting to find my projects in print.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7Vd7nTZmR7A/XYdjIWjID_I/AAAAAAAAYMI/o9FCLOBqtPYIsq6KY3gEYhaLaUx8PlcWgCKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_0556.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1567" data-original-width="1600" height="313" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7Vd7nTZmR7A/XYdjIWjID_I/AAAAAAAAYMI/o9FCLOBqtPYIsq6KY3gEYhaLaUx8PlcWgCKgBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_0556.HEIC" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I love triple embossing. There are various craft retailers promoting their own resins and of course there are numerous glazes on the market but, for me, I love seeing the finished result of various layers of embossing on a stamped image. I describe the very simple steps, with photos, in this month’s magazine. If you’ve forgotten or would just like more ideas I would encourage you to buy this lovely magazine. I’ve mainly used a selection of Crafty Individuals stamps for this project but I’ve also included the mini ‘Jane’ face from Indigo Blu.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r4exip7g8N4/XYdkf1vpEKI/AAAAAAAAYOU/3wP4R62cLmkM-dxD3MJcMR0gEEw0y4mjQCKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_1017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="630" data-original-width="1600" height="126" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r4exip7g8N4/XYdkf1vpEKI/AAAAAAAAYOU/3wP4R62cLmkM-dxD3MJcMR0gEEw0y4mjQCKgBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_1017.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
This photo demonstrates the three layers of Triple embossing quite well. After heating the first layer of embossing powder - I used WOW superfine clear gloss embossing powder and a clear embossing pad - you tend to get a rather bumpy layer. The second layer ( just repeating the process) produces a smoother layer but it’s the third layer that creates the magic. I love it every time.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VJ0vLGqprkc/XYdlb0J_-EI/AAAAAAAAYQQ/F7wGFGu0Rv8310N_c9jc23hsyy9gl-zpgCKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_1020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="914" data-original-width="1600" height="182" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VJ0vLGqprkc/XYdlb0J_-EI/AAAAAAAAYQQ/F7wGFGu0Rv8310N_c9jc23hsyy9gl-zpgCKgBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_1020.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Hopefully, this photo shows the difference in the layers a little more clearly. I’ve stamped with a Black Versafine ink pad in this image but it’s also great fun to vary your inks to produce multiple images:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EpUhC8JscGg/XYdl9u4IPpI/AAAAAAAAYRE/Tvwug_KQYXcxqAZwczMp28aEKe8kRZGAwCKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_1044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1420" data-original-width="1373" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EpUhC8JscGg/XYdl9u4IPpI/AAAAAAAAYRE/Tvwug_KQYXcxqAZwczMp28aEKe8kRZGAwCKgBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_1044.JPG" width="309" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Once I had triple embossed a number of images I then mounted them up with complementary background papers to create some birthday/greeting cards. Again, you can see more of these in the magazine.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mErgCd2Cf9I/XYdoE3IaIzI/AAAAAAAAYSI/Qe8H23qmncQNmKDSV9TgeRdgid42IBD2ACKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_0559.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mErgCd2Cf9I/XYdoE3IaIzI/AAAAAAAAYSI/Qe8H23qmncQNmKDSV9TgeRdgid42IBD2ACKgBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_0559.HEIC" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Crafty Individuals produce some gorgeous background papers which I used for many of the cards I made. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xplAVdz09XI/XYdpY4OUWJI/AAAAAAAAYSY/DTHHFQociSULH_LAK6wkJRMVNbRPkSa8wCKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_0555.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1584" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xplAVdz09XI/XYdpY4OUWJI/AAAAAAAAYSY/DTHHFQociSULH_LAK6wkJRMVNbRPkSa8wCKgBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_0555.HEIC" width="316" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next technique that I demonstrate in this month’s magazine is the ‘Intaglio’ technique. This is where you press a stamp image into the heated embossing powders while they are still hot. This creates an ‘indentation’ into the hot embossing paste which lies beneath the surface. When you play around with different colour ink pads and various shades of embossing powders you can produce some wonderful effects. Again, the magazine article shows the steps to achieving this very clearly with close up photos. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tJgM-HEnduY/XYdq8lXdDGI/AAAAAAAAYSk/ifxBgQ29YxAYxrh5pLArWFFCMibKfmjjwCKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_1127.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="844" data-original-width="1600" height="168" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tJgM-HEnduY/XYdq8lXdDGI/AAAAAAAAYSk/ifxBgQ29YxAYxrh5pLArWFFCMibKfmjjwCKgBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_1127.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These background stamps are great examples of this technique. The image on the left has been stamped into with a clear embossing pad. The image on the right has been stamped into with a black Versafine Clair ink pad. Both were stamped into embossing powders that had included different coloured WOW powders as well as Ultra thick embossing powders. I stamped into the molten powders when they were still hot. These produce such pretty tiles, especially if you add glitters, beads and findings into the last layer as you heat it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aOymSg_fRXk/XYduWaU2ENI/AAAAAAAAYSw/RXulu6Kh4zg3oYaSy0YvoEF9UFqNV0BdQCKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_1116.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1568" data-original-width="1600" height="313" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aOymSg_fRXk/XYduWaU2ENI/AAAAAAAAYSw/RXulu6Kh4zg3oYaSy0YvoEF9UFqNV0BdQCKgBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_1116.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope that this blog post together with the magazine article has inspired you to have a go at both techniques yourselves! Until next time....</div>

Quite late to the blog with my lovely project in this month’s ‘Making Cards and Papercraft’ but it is still available at Hobbycraft, WHSmiths, several supermarkets and craft shops if you are quick! You can order a copy directly from: www.makingcardsmagazine.com and postage is free! You can also buy a digital edition if you prefer. In my project for this month’s magazine I’ve used gelatos in various different ways so if you have these in your craft stash or are new to these gorgeous creamy watercolour pigment sticks, you might well be interested in buying a copy to see just how I created these!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7cBlMmVCVOY/XXTzcBAOnkI/AAAAAAAAXQY/eErJ_fgVfGkePY7uu_UrNiPb6bskIseuQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0618.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="923" data-original-width="1600" height="184" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7cBlMmVCVOY/XXTzcBAOnkI/AAAAAAAAXQY/eErJ_fgVfGkePY7uu_UrNiPb6bskIseuQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0618.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It’s amazing to think that these cards and gift tags started like this! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wKvBaVnp-IU/XXTz3Q9grfI/AAAAAAAAXQg/SXFQioJVe3ITAhIUA0n15iIVpc_a2V-6QCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0487.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wKvBaVnp-IU/XXTz3Q9grfI/AAAAAAAAXQg/SXFQioJVe3ITAhIUA0n15iIVpc_a2V-6QCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0487.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I love playing with gelatos and seeing what I can do with them. All thanks really to Birgit Koopsen who first introduced me to these at Version Scrap, a few years ago. The more you ‘play’, the more you find out what you can do with them. They work well on all painted surfaces; you can use them as crayons or you can crumble them and make them into watercolour sprays!<br />
<div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p2qzAQzvFrA/XXT0vI8l70I/AAAAAAAAXQs/dI1mGUzpz6wl8KoasIHpJLlHGrpUUmXNACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0565.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p2qzAQzvFrA/XXT0vI8l70I/AAAAAAAAXQs/dI1mGUzpz6wl8KoasIHpJLlHGrpUUmXNACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0565.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love using them with stencils. They are so creamy that it is easy to rub them across the stencil and then use your finger to smooth the colour into the cut out shapes. It leaves little crusts of colour where you push the gelatos through. Delicious. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kl5qm3bEzy4/XXT21KzW5eI/AAAAAAAAXQ4/FIzDAs-3ftIPtsp_xbYxiFRqTZ-Uga7bACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0595.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="883" data-original-width="1600" height="176" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kl5qm3bEzy4/XXT21KzW5eI/AAAAAAAAXQ4/FIzDAs-3ftIPtsp_xbYxiFRqTZ-Uga7bACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0595.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But this and other techniques are far better explained with lots of photos in this month’s Making Cards and Papercraft magazine! There’s still time to buy it before the October edition is released next week! I’m so chuffed that Sally Jarvis and her lovely team have allowed me to create projects for their lovely, crafty magazine! And to present my makes so beautifully. Thanks for stopping by folks and hope this project gets you looking for those gelatos! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nLTK18XcFhE/XRSyA6xxw9I/AAAAAAAAWKQ/Pgg4M76sHH8E2DYLzEf0SArOL3VOPn4KQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0823.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="938" data-original-width="1600" height="187" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nLTK18XcFhE/XRSyA6xxw9I/AAAAAAAAWKQ/Pgg4M76sHH8E2DYLzEf0SArOL3VOPn4KQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0823.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I saw this technique demoed at one of the craft shows and was instantly excited. It involves a couple of fairly new products: Ranger's Alcohol Lift (a colour free ink pad) and a new, innovative, plastic card known as 'Yupo'. I used these together with an older product: Ranger's Alcohol inks. You can see in the photo that I prepared my work surface by spacing out the alcohol inks with all the lids off. They are fine like this for upto an hour -according to Tim Holtz. The alcohol lift technique works perfectly on Yupo but if you haven't found this brilliant product yet, you can use Ranger foil tape, acetate or glass. It won't work on glossy card - how do I know that? 😉</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
However, I did die-cut some glossy card into various sized tags because when you use the alcohol lift ink pad to stamp onto an alcohol inked tag, it lifts the colour from the tag and you can then transfer the ink onto another surface, turning the alcohol inks into a stamping medium. Not only that but the stamped image is then permanent. Who thought alcohol inks could produce stamped images? Well, now it can. Here's some photos demonstrating the process:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This first step uses various alcohol ink colours (I used 4/5 here) which I pressed down over an entire tag before adding a few drops of the alcohol blending solution to help merge the colours. I then pressed down again all over the tag.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dm1OGHtHq_Q/XRTHGsZhXYI/AAAAAAAAWL8/py8YISaYwkI9MxNgbVcRIunlMiKl6eC3wCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0830.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dm1OGHtHq_Q/XRTHGsZhXYI/AAAAAAAAWL8/py8YISaYwkI9MxNgbVcRIunlMiKl6eC3wCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0830.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xa3J7MvApBY/XRS3Vnnmx1I/AAAAAAAAWKk/2YQBRXrGKbE62hl0kSpv-tK2egXIH9CUACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0833.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xa3J7MvApBY/XRS3Vnnmx1I/AAAAAAAAWKk/2YQBRXrGKbE62hl0kSpv-tK2egXIH9CUACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0833.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I then added more drops of different alcohol inks straight on to the tag, pressed down again to merge the colours, until I was happy with the result. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HOri21igBzg/XRS4BPN3oJI/AAAAAAAAWKs/DLrX3ArS8vUQmQeUh3cQ4kXlHSJzfzEZgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0834.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HOri21igBzg/XRS4BPN3oJI/AAAAAAAAWKs/DLrX3ArS8vUQmQeUh3cQ4kXlHSJzfzEZgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0834.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A delicious result. The tag surface Ive used here is a Ranger product. It's quite expensive - about £12.99 for 5 X A4 sheets! So I hunted around for cheaper alternatives following recommendations by other Crafters. Sadly, I cannot remember where I bought this cheaper pack but it was a lot cheaper! It's also thicker. I think it was described as a chalk board product for schools but you can google it, I'm sure. Here are the results of playing with both substrates:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HPLf4R0A98w/XRS5tn3GbkI/AAAAAAAAWK4/cphyxk69hPIzxeiWcXLO4kMZwic5zHLtwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0843.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1506" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HPLf4R0A98w/XRS5tn3GbkI/AAAAAAAAWK4/cphyxk69hPIzxeiWcXLO4kMZwic5zHLtwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0843.JPG" width="301" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As you can see, not a lot of difference so far. But how did both and the other substrates cope when I used the Alcohol lift ink pad? Let's see:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I5YVqoA2hwY/XRS6a8kPjaI/AAAAAAAAWLA/s7vKAwt2ARAZUe40bcoN6Pm6ISQeo8uLACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0856.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I5YVqoA2hwY/XRS6a8kPjaI/AAAAAAAAWLA/s7vKAwt2ARAZUe40bcoN6Pm6ISQeo8uLACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0856.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Press down lightly on the ink pad and apply a little pressure onto the inked tag. Then lift and stamp onto another tag to get the inked image. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jL2p4_5qhCo/XRS87EdXPSI/AAAAAAAAWLM/UGi3-rMkA4QwRtX6T6ZTwHBYyG-cZSJUQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0859.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1523" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jL2p4_5qhCo/XRS87EdXPSI/AAAAAAAAWLM/UGi3-rMkA4QwRtX6T6ZTwHBYyG-cZSJUQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0859.JPG" width="304" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The same alcohol inks were used on both substrates and there is a slight difference in the results but not such a difference for me to prefer one over the other at this stage. I must admit, the results varied on the cheap Yupo but were successful every time on the Ranger product. Here are the results on the other substrates. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Dq2Hs5CcAQI/XRS-pofudNI/AAAAAAAAWLc/LMc_KTnnZIoab8bu5GeTT8Lq-8B6nZGgQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0862.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="936" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Dq2Hs5CcAQI/XRS-pofudNI/AAAAAAAAWLc/LMc_KTnnZIoab8bu5GeTT8Lq-8B6nZGgQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0862.JPG" width="187" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Alcohol inks work beautifully on glass. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D5RO3RTCb8o/XRS-8mAJiPI/AAAAAAAAWLk/QI-vM1EC_XIL6cQE_3fENbjRXtDFTS4XwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0863.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D5RO3RTCb8o/XRS-8mAJiPI/AAAAAAAAWLk/QI-vM1EC_XIL6cQE_3fENbjRXtDFTS4XwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0863.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And fairly well on the acetate. Once you remove the alcohol ink to leave this 'ghost' image, it's. <span style="text-align: center;">important that you lightly dab over the ghost image with a piece of kitchen roll. This gets rid of the remaining alcohol. Don't swipe across until you are sure you have dabbed first and the image has emerged clearly. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OJsKhQl4sms/XRTFBvtwWkI/AAAAAAAAWLw/mzQ4p84LgRMnH3G8I0nAOlBVEx20060FwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0866.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1326" data-original-width="1600" height="265" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OJsKhQl4sms/XRTFBvtwWkI/AAAAAAAAWLw/mzQ4p84LgRMnH3G8I0nAOlBVEx20060FwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0866.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm finishing this first part of using the Alcohol lift ink pad with a couple of stamped images on the different Yupo tags. You can see the image is much clearer on the Ranger Yupo but the transferred images are equally good. This is one of my new 'Art by Marlene' stamps. Tomorrow, I will post a second technique using the alcohol lift technique with stencils. Until then I hope you have fun with this technique. </div>

Are you playing along?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pGJGXfrzZ64/XOwhcrSEQPI/AAAAAAAAV-k/Os3nY00Agu4hiphwN2XjSuUt4fOAfAtPACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0672.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pGJGXfrzZ64/XOwhcrSEQPI/AAAAAAAAV-k/Os3nY00Agu4hiphwN2XjSuUt4fOAfAtPACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0672.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These are the completed tags. A very simple series of steps. This is what I used: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4GLEgf2Q5MM/XOwh7qkbm0I/AAAAAAAAV-s/Xlf7wuqs5SsnBKsKUDbR3t5Gq9Wn5nEGACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0665.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="981" data-original-width="1600" height="196" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4GLEgf2Q5MM/XOwh7qkbm0I/AAAAAAAAV-s/Xlf7wuqs5SsnBKsKUDbR3t5Gq9Wn5nEGACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0665.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Select one of your tags and a stencil. Lay the stencil over your tag. Select a light colour acrylic paint from your stash. Either use a blending tool as I did or some craft foam to pounce your paint colour through the stencil completely or partly over your tag. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yra8w6RhcdE/XOwis4VlZ7I/AAAAAAAAV-4/YmVSwA5yEOAVG2Eqf4FGXpVr75oAEcK-gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0654.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="855" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yra8w6RhcdE/XOwis4VlZ7I/AAAAAAAAV-4/YmVSwA5yEOAVG2Eqf4FGXpVr75oAEcK-gCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0654.JPG" width="170" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Remove the stencil and place straight into warm water. You don't want the paint to dry on your stencil. Heat dry the painted tag. Now, again using craft foam or a blending tool, select two or three Distress ink pads or Distress Stains or the Distress Oxides and blend the colours over your tag.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Cc_TNhQE5SA/XOwjtm-msiI/AAAAAAAAV_A/i5ABGWADVFIU4tt-X8VWdz2hZgenR-gQQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0659.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1462" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Cc_TNhQE5SA/XOwjtm-msiI/AAAAAAAAV_A/i5ABGWADVFIU4tt-X8VWdz2hZgenR-gQQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0659.JPG" width="292" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Although I didn't do this, you can continue to layer more stencils over your tag to create more interesting backgrounds. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sMvvovKzz6Y/XOwkWKlP4CI/AAAAAAAAV_I/ajb1opLeVTk5C2osddQXucg40o-vF0MeQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0660.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1302" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sMvvovKzz6Y/XOwkWKlP4CI/AAAAAAAAV_I/ajb1opLeVTk5C2osddQXucg40o-vF0MeQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0660.JPG" width="260" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A few more tags using different colours: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fa-ceQ5P5KM/XOwkkIRatiI/AAAAAAAAV_M/Xhgms5VXu08Szqs31eUjy9lKso829wG1gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0661.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1316" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fa-ceQ5P5KM/XOwkkIRatiI/AAAAAAAAV_M/Xhgms5VXu08Szqs31eUjy9lKso829wG1gCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0661.JPG" width="263" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And another: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r89u42Md3Hs/XOwkvplC6YI/AAAAAAAAV_Q/OMDkC203jzALTZQtl9XxcpvXgFUM-W65gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0663.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r89u42Md3Hs/XOwkvplC6YI/AAAAAAAAV_Q/OMDkC203jzALTZQtl9XxcpvXgFUM-W65gCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0663.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The final step is to flick some water over the completed, inked, tags. This just adds to the distressed look. From this...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-j7IxFjN-W5I/XOwl5K1bfiI/AAAAAAAAV_Y/iu3b2dSov5w0PgWtSwwop1ZLnBo8sXIMwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0669.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1393" data-original-width="1600" height="278" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-j7IxFjN-W5I/XOwl5K1bfiI/AAAAAAAAV_Y/iu3b2dSov5w0PgWtSwwop1ZLnBo8sXIMwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0669.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To this...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9Z6kERD0lmQ/XOwmbX13MUI/AAAAAAAAV_g/Ym8SI4UuOtUr-AC7woF_TCuS1zPEvs-0wCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0672.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9Z6kERD0lmQ/XOwmbX13MUI/AAAAAAAAV_g/Ym8SI4UuOtUr-AC7woF_TCuS1zPEvs-0wCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0672.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A very simple technique but the first of several 'resist' techniques, so more to follow. Hope you are inspired to have a go. Until next time!</div>

This week is easy-peasy and only needs a few supplies! This technique is 'borrowed' and learned from Dyan Reavely.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-grP6aRMk0pM/XOWsTcxV8hI/AAAAAAAAV7U/8jA2zr-hyqAPdhbCQC60f7_He4cA8eejgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0642.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1285" data-original-width="1600" height="256" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-grP6aRMk0pM/XOWsTcxV8hI/AAAAAAAAV7U/8jA2zr-hyqAPdhbCQC60f7_He4cA8eejgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0642.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Supplies needed are: tags -a good weight as this technique used a lot of water, preferably watercolour or mixed media; ink sprays - I'm using Dylusions Ink sprays, just ensure they are waterbased. You can try different inks though to explore different outcomes; water spray bottle or mister; variety of stencils; kitchen roll.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Start by spraying your tag with water. Then spray a puddle of ink in a couple of places on the tag. Repeat with another colour. Then lightly mist water across the tag to gently blend the two colours.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eQIUAfculGo/XOWuT6SM9hI/AAAAAAAAV7g/pnGGf9x43l8KC6EBb8L66LpdjbgN49O5gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0623.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1597" data-original-width="1528" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eQIUAfculGo/XOWuT6SM9hI/AAAAAAAAV7g/pnGGf9x43l8KC6EBb8L66LpdjbgN49O5gCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0623.JPG" width="306" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Immediately place a second tag on top of the wet tag and press down firmly to transfer the excess ink. Peel apart and blot both with kitchen roll.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tZ0aMQC3v8I/XOWvUDGUyOI/AAAAAAAAV7o/LodgqWvCZ18o0rt5s-t01mojjusOULiowCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0625.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1589" data-original-width="1600" height="317" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tZ0aMQC3v8I/XOWvUDGUyOI/AAAAAAAAV7o/LodgqWvCZ18o0rt5s-t01mojjusOULiowCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0625.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Select a stencil of your choice and lay this across the top of the two tags and spray through the stencil with water. Try to make sure that the stencil is lying flat to avoid water creeping underneath. This is all a bit trial and error really. You will have varying results depending on the stencil you use and how much water you spray! Just play around until you are happy with your results.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TnUsRZvt9WI/XOWwYJCWZYI/AAAAAAAAV7w/HVMotgnPNnUrhAUI7WB9x3JoldqUBndWgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0627.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1361" data-original-width="1600" height="272" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TnUsRZvt9WI/XOWwYJCWZYI/AAAAAAAAV7w/HVMotgnPNnUrhAUI7WB9x3JoldqUBndWgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0627.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next, lift the stencil and immediately flip it over onto the bottom half of your tags. Press down firmly and remove. I found more success if i dabbed the flipped stencil with kitchen roll before I removed it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-N-tio0yjMcs/XOWywDqBwBI/AAAAAAAAV8U/Pn3EhXe8zuEm01OGoZwzbeV_hhr72DaBwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0629.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1474" data-original-width="1600" height="294" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-N-tio0yjMcs/XOWywDqBwBI/AAAAAAAAV8U/Pn3EhXe8zuEm01OGoZwzbeV_hhr72DaBwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0629.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You now need to blot the entire surfaces with the kitchen roll. Can you see the 'ghost' effect where the water has removed the ink? It creates such a pretty background doesn't it? However, these inks are not permanent so they will need sealing at some point. Tomorrow I will make some suggestions as to how you can build further layers from this first layer. Meanwhile here are some other colours I played with. </div>

Have you tried any of these techniques yet? My third and final post using pigment ink pads on the gelli plate is also my favourite. It is inspired by the tags created by the uber-talented Birgit Koopsen. She has produced many videos for Gel Press and are easy to find on YouTube.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-w72zfqCFVy0/XNsXvJOOZnI/AAAAAAAAVy8/LFupC540jKoVN7dlhJ42sqjlIvnjMghIgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0454.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1592" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-w72zfqCFVy0/XNsXvJOOZnI/AAAAAAAAVy8/LFupC540jKoVN7dlhJ42sqjlIvnjMghIgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0454.JPG" width="318" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Pretty, aren't they? First, I used the VersaFine Clair ink pads that I used in my previous posts, but I didn't get a great result. I think the pads are too new and tended to bubble as they dried. The Distress Oxides were a lot more successful and were used in the samples above. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eiRo0eD23Vw/XNsZHoGmMQI/AAAAAAAAVzI/UNQ2pi8rjBoyAOSEYjNw9KtkP3fSLBvmgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0451.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1451" data-original-width="1600" height="290" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eiRo0eD23Vw/XNsZHoGmMQI/AAAAAAAAVzI/UNQ2pi8rjBoyAOSEYjNw9KtkP3fSLBvmgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0451.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As you can probably make out in this photo, I smeared each ink pad across the gelli plate. Take care not to let the colours touch as you can contaminate the ink pad. Best to use a small brayer afterwards to carefully blend the colours together while keeping each colour discrete. You now need to let these dry. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1Xs90uzZ2co/XNsaNoSlBVI/AAAAAAAAVzQ/ruRQAG9ncp8wEpxYposVuC3a1bJMzfTJwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0448.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1300" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1Xs90uzZ2co/XNsaNoSlBVI/AAAAAAAAVzQ/ruRQAG9ncp8wEpxYposVuC3a1bJMzfTJwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0448.JPG" width="259" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When I used the VersaFine Clair pigment inks, I blocked the colours. Another idea Birgit Koopsen used. However, you can see it starting to 'bead' on the gelli plate. I suspect the ink pads were just too juicy as they were mostly new. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cGfJyX9EHrY/XNsbFGO2qBI/AAAAAAAAVzY/QIYoec4gWq4Pog_ZhOcWJ1GCQPW5Od5rACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0450.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1383" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cGfJyX9EHrY/XNsbFGO2qBI/AAAAAAAAVzY/QIYoec4gWq4Pog_ZhOcWJ1GCQPW5Od5rACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0450.JPG" width="276" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used several of my Carabelle art texture printing plates and pressed them into the ink to create patterns across the plate. I then placed a few tags across different parts of the gelli plate to pick up the print. However, I was disappointed with the result.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YwFfnK4-qrU/XNscWLgvvsI/AAAAAAAAVzk/mURJzGlheKMJ6YxPdPZylnuEobc9ifKXwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0455.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1186" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YwFfnK4-qrU/XNscWLgvvsI/AAAAAAAAVzk/mURJzGlheKMJ6YxPdPZylnuEobc9ifKXwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0455.JPG" width="237" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, I tried again with the Distress Oxides. I used the art printing plates again followed by the foam stamps again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yP6WCtu0vmk/XNsdEPOuoII/AAAAAAAAVzw/et9ys0CZYNMLRO1KKt0XWigJ6B0nDxOOwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0452.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1446" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yP6WCtu0vmk/XNsdEPOuoII/AAAAAAAAVzw/et9ys0CZYNMLRO1KKt0XWigJ6B0nDxOOwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0452.JPG" width="289" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This time when I pulled some prints off with my tags it worked beautifully as you can see from the first photo. I do hope you will have a go with this particular technique. It is so rewarding! Thankyou Birgit for another cracking idea! Until next week, happy crafting! </div>

I have had a couple of extended crafty sessions over the last couple of days playing around with different pigment ink pads and acrylic paints on the Gelli plate. Tonight's techniques follow on from the previous technique using Shaving foam (see previous post if you missed it). I do hope you will have as much fun as I have had playing around with these different mediums.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uJC4qx0FpaE/XNnWBi8bOZI/AAAAAAAAVw8/JOrWeYTS6wQciL1CdB9JHophe7_pL-N1QCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0461.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uJC4qx0FpaE/XNnWBi8bOZI/AAAAAAAAVw8/JOrWeYTS6wQciL1CdB9JHophe7_pL-N1QCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0461.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
I have briefly explained a simple technique on the main group page for Mini Marvels. This involves stamping directly onto the gelli plate with a pigment ink pad. I used VersaFine Clair ink pads. The trick is to allow this to dry sufficiently before brayering a light coloured acrylic paint over the top of the stamped image and then pulling a print off. Here is another sample of this first, simple technique. It does make lovely backgrounds when you use different colours.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G7kRGKSTPNU/XNnXd9ynw1I/AAAAAAAAVxI/rGXemdMWjwgiR04_E0RYPxRwBgklb5lsACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0445.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1497" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G7kRGKSTPNU/XNnXd9ynw1I/AAAAAAAAVxI/rGXemdMWjwgiR04_E0RYPxRwBgklb5lsACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0445.JPG" width="299" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Using a much larger gelli plate I then tried stamping onto acrylic paint with the pigment ink pads and adding several layers before pulling a print. It gives a much more detailed background which I love.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Np4Ipoa7t20/XNnYRPL8UrI/AAAAAAAAVxQ/hRJjveWBOUkp7hhoZ5n1Jrh5RwbIOcE4gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0434.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1526" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Np4Ipoa7t20/XNnYRPL8UrI/AAAAAAAAVxQ/hRJjveWBOUkp7hhoZ5n1Jrh5RwbIOcE4gCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0434.JPG" width="305" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started by choosing several acrylic paint colours - I used Dina Wakely paints by Ranger - and brayered them across my Gelli plate. The next step was to layer some stencils across the paint and pull off a print leaving the stencils in place. I then removed the stencils and allowed this to dry. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UUZVb21RLkQ/XNnZVn0L4HI/AAAAAAAAVxc/sd0DN7PkTUY31dPAoHyqtdr6tuqv3LpEwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0435.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1371" data-original-width="1600" height="274" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UUZVb21RLkQ/XNnZVn0L4HI/AAAAAAAAVxc/sd0DN7PkTUY31dPAoHyqtdr6tuqv3LpEwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0435.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once dry, I added more paints and brayered a couple of different colours sparingly in different places on the gelli plate. Then, I took some Claudine Helmuth foam stamps and stamped into the wet paint and left this to dry. You do need to be patient between layers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-J3ZmwDR-nEo/XNnbRIhOT9I/AAAAAAAAVxo/D2YfLW_RPo0EUr7EYI2_VEQb9fpaCQsngCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0436.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1169" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-J3ZmwDR-nEo/XNnbRIhOT9I/AAAAAAAAVxo/D2YfLW_RPo0EUr7EYI2_VEQb9fpaCQsngCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0436.JPG" width="233" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once the stamped images were dry, I overstamped again, but this time using the Pigment ink pads. And again, I let this dry. Don't be tempted to use a heat gun. It dries the gelli plate too fiercely. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-S8lxgodCqqA/XNncCJT60kI/AAAAAAAAVxw/u1A6XPUTT1MBcTS-cnVuFHedLWd0ixdmACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0439.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1446" data-original-width="1600" height="289" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-S8lxgodCqqA/XNncCJT60kI/AAAAAAAAVxw/u1A6XPUTT1MBcTS-cnVuFHedLWd0ixdmACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0439.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here I've used a couple of Indigo Blu dinkie stamps and one of Kate Crane's stamps from one of her Carabelle stamp sets. The next step, once these images have dried, is to lightly paint over the whole thing with a light coloured paint. I use either White, light/pale pink or blue. All work well for this technique. I got this idea from a class with the lovely Kate Crane. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-03CWHO7suSA/XNnfyt5KYgI/AAAAAAAAVyI/MnwYfP10ZvEMZlHYeSSjNnFI189GSYYZgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0441.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1337" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-03CWHO7suSA/XNnfyt5KYgI/AAAAAAAAVyI/MnwYfP10ZvEMZlHYeSSjNnFI189GSYYZgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0441.JPG" width="267" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As you can see I have brayered a very thin layer of paint across the plate. You can still see the pigment stamped images through it. I then quickly pulled my print. It wasn't perfect, but I love the distressed result. I even managed another print! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-H9hBi9YNAnU/XNnhLwCFduI/AAAAAAAAVyU/o3krCs-1Gkwm5NrfEVlOIYdGvlD48fH9QCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0442.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-H9hBi9YNAnU/XNnhLwCFduI/AAAAAAAAVyU/o3krCs-1Gkwm5NrfEVlOIYdGvlD48fH9QCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0442.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This now ready for die-cutting a couple of tags from or I might use this one for ATCs. I hope you'll have a go at this technique too, although there is a lot of waiting around for the layers to dry. Have a look at You Tube for more ideas. This is mainly where I got my ideas from. I will post another technique tomorrow using pigment ink pads on the gelli plate. I hope you can drop by! </div>

Thankyou so much for joining me over here for a visual journey through the first technique. Fortunately, and probably because, I recently showed this technique to one of my Grandfairies who just loves creating art and thought what fun it would be to show her a variety of art techniques to help relax her while preparing for and during her fast approaching SAT tests. Not a big leap then to suggesting this for a new challenge in my Mini Marvels group. I love learning new techniques and revisiting old ones! I was reaquainted with this technique during a recent class with the uber-talented and very lovely, Tracy Evans. I hope you enjoy it too.<br />
<br />
For this technique you will need:<br />
-shaving foam (not gel),<br />
-a tin foil dish to squirt the shaving foam into,<br />
-card stock or ready made Tags<br />
-either paints,food colouring or reinkers - I've used Distress dye ink reinkers with my granddaughter here,(Tracy used the Distress Oxides reinkers) -<br />
-a ruler,<br />
-a heat gun.<br />

1. The Shaving Foam technique<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_2LxxeXiARU/XNCXZtoRIdI/AAAAAAAAVo8/TacVYgrGNbcv-HDtoh8vVYbmuO2tk6hrACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0339.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="200" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_2LxxeXiARU/XNCXZtoRIdI/AAAAAAAAVo8/TacVYgrGNbcv-HDtoh8vVYbmuO2tk6hrACKgBGAs/s200/IMG_0339.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
I am cutting my own tags, using PaperArtsy 340gms Smoothy card stock. I love this card and generally use it for all of my mixed media techniques, but you use your own preferred card. Just ensure it will withstand wet media. I cut 12 tags using Ranger's Tim Holtz Thinlets Tag dies. I've used the largest one for mine. However, there is no rule as to which size tag you should make. Circle tags would be fun too. Now for the fun part. Hopefully the photos will do a lot of the explaining!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qew9f668duc/XNCaIUCgBHI/AAAAAAAAVpI/ZUBumr3HWooQ1-Cq-TZcJXd8PA977W2XgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0303.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qew9f668duc/XNCaIUCgBHI/AAAAAAAAVpI/ZUBumr3HWooQ1-Cq-TZcJXd8PA977W2XgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0303.JPG" width="239" /></a>I</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Having squirted a really good amount of shaving foam into the foil dish, add drops of either paint, food colouring or reinkers onto the surface of the shaving foam. Add as many colours as you like. Now, using a cocktail stick or coffee stirrer, mix through the colours carefully making swirling patterns.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aNGIUd7nwnQ/XNCceYmVpyI/AAAAAAAAVpY/_pfZH3R4_qgeZ55fIY8rTA8k8LWp5JBSACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0305.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aNGIUd7nwnQ/XNCceYmVpyI/AAAAAAAAVpY/_pfZH3R4_qgeZ55fIY8rTA8k8LWp5JBSACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0305.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As Imogen has done here, lay your tag onto the surface of the swirly coloured foam and press it down quite firmly to allow it to absorb the colours you have added. It's a bit messy but smells heavenly! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-piBBBE9RPbg/XNCddBdzn3I/AAAAAAAAVpo/lPDjIb7CyDgx_yrM6GuvB-ci8orAx4XwACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0307.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-piBBBE9RPbg/XNCddBdzn3I/AAAAAAAAVpo/lPDjIb7CyDgx_yrM6GuvB-ci8orAx4XwACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0307.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Gently lift the tag from the foam surface. It will pull up a lot of the foam with it but not to worry. Lay this gloopy tag down on your surface and then take a ruler to slide all of the foam completely off the card. You can discard this foam or pop it to one side to use it again later. You should still have plenty left in your foil dish. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nkyjBzXTETw/XNCeXTiS25I/AAAAAAAAVpw/6ca3BqVYfBYeXp7_UHgIigySe95GeajswCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0310.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nkyjBzXTETw/XNCeXTiS25I/AAAAAAAAVpw/6ca3BqVYfBYeXp7_UHgIigySe95GeajswCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0310.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Imogen is demonstrating this step beautifully isn't she? You really should gasp at the resulting pattern you will see left on your tag. The next step is to use your heat tool to gently waft over the tag. The colours will appear a little brighter depending on which colour agent you use. This didn't happen when I used PaperArtsy Fresco chalk paints but the colours definitely brightened when I used the Distress Oxides reinkers. You will also need to use a paper towel after drying to thoroughly remove any oily residue from the Oxides. Make as many tags, using various colours to vary the backgrounds you create, as you like. Play around with different media! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KehjWnwfbiU/XNCfjcT6iTI/AAAAAAAAVp4/_C_Eu53kfEMPDoi3Qhyh8Y-yBIZhpo--QCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0314.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KehjWnwfbiU/XNCfjcT6iTI/AAAAAAAAVp4/_C_Eu53kfEMPDoi3Qhyh8Y-yBIZhpo--QCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0314.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And this was what Imogen made with her backgrounds! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GWUl615LP5I/XNCgRxx1l-I/AAAAAAAAVqE/jewRemXDGdA-0qSoHoLmaMhzoUNDB-LGACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_0330.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="939" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GWUl615LP5I/XNCgRxx1l-I/AAAAAAAAVqE/jewRemXDGdA-0qSoHoLmaMhzoUNDB-LGACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_0330.JPG" width="187" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What will you do with yours? Have fun and post your results on the group page! Until next week for Technique 2! Bye for now. </div>

The blog theme over the past week and continuing throughout next week is: Artist Trading Coins. These are the ones I made using a couple of Kay Carley's stamp sets.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0S9H5awwZq0/W5KlRL0nQGI/AAAAAAAAUgI/1-t-xC3hR0E6sIS5YS8Z5dHC2F5BE_2sgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_9221.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1322" data-original-width="1600" height="264" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0S9H5awwZq0/W5KlRL0nQGI/AAAAAAAAUgI/1-t-xC3hR0E6sIS5YS8Z5dHC2F5BE_2sgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_9221.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The two stamp sets Ive used are: EKC15 and EK19. These flower heads are great images to use on the 2.5" diameter Coins. If you haven't yet caught the 'bug' for making these little mini art pieces, then I hope you can find inspiration and know-how on the PA blog. Each contributing artist has a different 'take' on how to create these while using various stamped images from different designers. The technique is pretty much the same as making regular ATCs. My technique is the way I produce any piece of art journaling - lots of layers! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QQ1Lkx87UUI/W5KnA0C5h6I/AAAAAAAAUgU/mbmzR6Qz7qoln2Fjgt4vTQsHpSuSCPWFACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_9192.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1323" data-original-width="1600" height="264" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QQ1Lkx87UUI/W5KnA0C5h6I/AAAAAAAAUgU/mbmzR6Qz7qoln2Fjgt4vTQsHpSuSCPWFACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_9192.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These backgrounds were created by first laying down a mix of Distress Oxides, adding various colours until I was happy with the result. These three sheets are a result of using different combinations. The technique was Tim Holtz's swooshing method. Once dry, I then added PaperArtsy Infusions on top, attempting to use similar colours to the Oxides. These are not permanent backgrounds so needed fixing with Ranger's Distress glaze before adding further layers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-95Q5RapVXS0/W5Kp5WiQBRI/AAAAAAAAUgg/KOGMxZA34oweWeAA4tYG05CNBbBtkj67gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_9194.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1376" data-original-width="1600" height="275" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-95Q5RapVXS0/W5Kp5WiQBRI/AAAAAAAAUgg/KOGMxZA34oweWeAA4tYG05CNBbBtkj67gCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_9194.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
They look so pretty even before I add any stencilling or stamping on top. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KwdDZMIPvWU/W5KqeC0NUzI/AAAAAAAAUgo/D3k_HoJl_1YDURoX7N7M-CKNdKNTthp5QCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_9213.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1528" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KwdDZMIPvWU/W5KqeC0NUzI/AAAAAAAAUgo/D3k_HoJl_1YDURoX7N7M-CKNdKNTthp5QCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_9213.JPG" width="305" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here are just a few I added further layers to. This included stamping: I used some PaperArtsy mini stamps and some stamps designed by Michelle Ward for GreenPepperStudios. I'm not sure these are still available as I bought them several years ago. I also added some marks using bottle caps/tops and a white Sharpie paint pen. These were now ready for the focal images to be placed on top. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_0GT-e0sufc/W5K4MovFv3I/AAAAAAAAUiY/1YP2XT814A4Xqc54dD1JV_r6Lyvfs6C8ACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_9217.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1242" data-original-width="1600" height="248" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_0GT-e0sufc/W5K4MovFv3I/AAAAAAAAUiY/1YP2XT814A4Xqc54dD1JV_r6Lyvfs6C8ACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_9217.JPG" width="320" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can see which stamp sets I used over on the PA blog. I used a mix of Derwent Inktense blocks (grated then mixed with water to create a watercolour mix) and Copic markers, to colour in the flowers, butterflies and dragonflies. I also added some glitter to some of the images and some text.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, I turned my attention to creating some storage tins to keep these Coins in! I had seen an idea on Pinterest to turn a large Pringles tin into an ATCoin storage container. I preferred to use the smaller size. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YUimnRqrEko/W5KuQ3EKuFI/AAAAAAAAUhI/AfEUSmN2oCIhFcKus0C8DfWWPJsxg3jXQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_9244.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="808" data-original-width="1600" height="161" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YUimnRqrEko/W5KuQ3EKuFI/AAAAAAAAUhI/AfEUSmN2oCIhFcKus0C8DfWWPJsxg3jXQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_9244.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This seemed a more manageable size. I had great fun creating a masterboard to cut these panels from. This time I used Paperartsy Fresco chalk paints and a couple of Paperartsy stencils.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4a2xNY-j6oo/W5Kv83xQBaI/AAAAAAAAUhg/kBsLeBfFMcwcxWcXa3qfM1XtuCOF9uibgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_9109.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1591" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4a2xNY-j6oo/W5Kv83xQBaI/AAAAAAAAUhg/kBsLeBfFMcwcxWcXa3qfM1XtuCOF9uibgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_9109.JPG" width="318" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used Paperartsy grunge paste, pushed through this scrummy stencil (PSO34) before brayering some Paperartsy Fresco chalk paints across the 12" Smoothy card I used for this. I created several sheets and used several colours of Frescos. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OBLh6l2aW68/W5Kw_uqmGHI/AAAAAAAAUho/m9YmsvlxB-AXPIy0ETJrafoQW6ItoCBfwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_9125.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1429" data-original-width="1600" height="285" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OBLh6l2aW68/W5Kw_uqmGHI/AAAAAAAAUho/m9YmsvlxB-AXPIy0ETJrafoQW6ItoCBfwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_9125.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The raised pattern resisted the paint and left lots of white space, which I really liked. Once I had created a layer of colour, I added further stencilling on top, using one of Kay Carley's new stencils, and mixing grunge paste with the Infusions. I explained on the PA blog my surprise at the results but I was pleased with the colours this technique produced. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vhiZv-gvgSE/W5KyFUMKgGI/AAAAAAAAUh8/hbhK6xtlvrIBMmeyEji0dwUAWEgeccJMACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_9120.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1258" data-original-width="1600" height="251" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vhiZv-gvgSE/W5KyFUMKgGI/AAAAAAAAUh8/hbhK6xtlvrIBMmeyEji0dwUAWEgeccJMACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_9120.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is such a pretty stencil. I love the panels I created to wrap around the tins. I only needed to paint a base coat of black paint and create a larger Coin for the lid. I was very happy to have enough left over to create some matching Coins. So, there we are. I do hope you like my ATCoins and want to get involved in this new swapping craze. These are all up for swaps if you're interested. Just leave me a comment below. I will leave you with a couple of close-up photos of the Coins. Until next time...</div>

Back again to share the process steps of the pages I created in Wanda Hentges Circle Journal. I and 11 FB friends have been sending our journals around the UK and over to the US to allow each of us to create art on at least one page in each others' journals. Great fun. This last 'Cycle' has taken a year to complete and Wanda's journal has now been received by Catherine before winging its way to Wanda in the US. I know she will be delighted with all the glorious art work inside. Here are the pages I created for her...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BSgUF0j8HFI/WzjQcX8hclI/AAAAAAAASoc/a5evFVBTri4tfrkx4cISdg2ShCRp01lzQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_8640.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1211" data-original-width="1600" height="242" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BSgUF0j8HFI/WzjQcX8hclI/AAAAAAAASoc/a5evFVBTri4tfrkx4cISdg2ShCRp01lzQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_8640.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We decided to create our journals this year using envelopes. It was amazing to see 12 completely different ideas on how to do this. All journals were handmade. I'm hoping to post photos of several of them on here at the end of July, so watch this space! I might even be brave enough to try a Facebook live! So, how did I start this journal spread? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3Wuz-13vsDI/WzjRwVjpnyI/AAAAAAAASoo/OfShoC9xf5ou5Wu3gp7OaNFccpjYDq_2QCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_8587.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3Wuz-13vsDI/WzjRwVjpnyI/AAAAAAAASoo/OfShoC9xf5ou5Wu3gp7OaNFccpjYDq_2QCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_8587.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I started by brayering the colours you can see in the photo horizontally and vertically across the envelope pages which I had previously gessoed. These are new PaperArtsy colours produced by Seth Apter, and paints by Dina Wakely for Ranger Indistries. They really are delicious and produce a very different colour blend to the ones I usually go for. But I wanted to produce a more subdued background for the flower images I intended to place on top. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aWTf-R7rUOc/WzjTcqIwCkI/AAAAAAAASo0/TaSwAmYLIh4syiJrK4dirgNGxd79Tk7BgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_8588.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1234" data-original-width="1600" height="246" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aWTf-R7rUOc/WzjTcqIwCkI/AAAAAAAASo0/TaSwAmYLIh4syiJrK4dirgNGxd79Tk7BgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_8588.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The next stage was to use some DecoArt Crackle paste through a stencil to create some interest in what would be a rather plain, unfussy background - not like me at all, but I was aiming to produce a style I felt Wanda would prefer. I wanted to keep these quite light and ensure some white space in the finished page. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LnSBhlWcPTo/WzjUpDC4G3I/AAAAAAAASo8/4w5anjNxgjMOU2TghxTX7Xh4WNAkA3KmACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_8600.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1107" data-original-width="1600" height="221" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LnSBhlWcPTo/WzjUpDC4G3I/AAAAAAAASo8/4w5anjNxgjMOU2TghxTX7Xh4WNAkA3KmACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_8600.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
More colours were added, very lightly with a small brayer this time as I just wanted to catch the raised crackled pattern and the pages. This is so unlike my usual Gung-Ho attitude to paint, but it felt good! The paints used here are: Eggplant, Purple Rain, Butter and Beach Hut. All Paperartsy Fresco Chalk acrylic paints, available here: <a href="http://www.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">www.paperartsy.co.uk</a> and some local retailers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-btI8ekTbwGQ/WzjXRbdlLrI/AAAAAAAAS0c/SUb9ZSBAOfcsLDTDNOURbHmy_5V99s8ZQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_8606.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1346" data-original-width="1600" height="269" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-btI8ekTbwGQ/WzjXRbdlLrI/AAAAAAAAS0c/SUb9ZSBAOfcsLDTDNOURbHmy_5V99s8ZQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_8606.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next step was to add some stamping, but again, I didn't want this to be intrusive so I only used bits of stamping here and there. I used a Paperartsy Hot Picks stamp set: HP1501EZ and a Mini Stamp: MN41. I used two contrasting colours to do this: Eggplant and Butter. Next, I added some simple stencilling using the same contrasting colours and adding a touch of green with Magic Moss, another of Seth Apter's new colours. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7hUHTweJbCc/WzjZFI5aPuI/AAAAAAAATAs/8XpuGov7nx8bcZY0b0BdvvL5PyksNoVEgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_8611.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1319" data-original-width="1600" height="263" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7hUHTweJbCc/WzjZFI5aPuI/AAAAAAAATAs/8XpuGov7nx8bcZY0b0BdvvL5PyksNoVEgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_8611.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now it was beginning to look interesting and I was falling in love with it! Best to leave it when I'm happy. So, I started stamping out the gorgeous little flowers I was anxious to use, a new set designed by Kay Carley, for PaperArtsy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uZ0hus5KNp0/WzjaMTEo-EI/AAAAAAAATG0/0LPOHUDktBsu8eVi-lFj4QdEc3N2FKvrQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_8613.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1285" data-original-width="1600" height="257" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uZ0hus5KNp0/WzjaMTEo-EI/AAAAAAAATG0/0LPOHUDktBsu8eVi-lFj4QdEc3N2FKvrQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_8613.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I kept very much to the colours I had already used but, of course, Bougainvillea - another PaperArtsy Fresco Chal paint - had to make an appearance. It's my all time fave! So, some new paints, some older ones, but all Fresco Chalks. I really like their matte, yet quite bright, finish.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5-QonbI9Cqk/WzjbaMIbEmI/AAAAAAAATPM/YD68D50p55kOJGgaRCLA5Kd49pOHPF2MACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_8618.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1202" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5-QonbI9Cqk/WzjbaMIbEmI/AAAAAAAATPM/YD68D50p55kOJGgaRCLA5Kd49pOHPF2MACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_8618.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, with the addition of some of JoFy's stamp sets from previous releases, I was able to complete the whole spread. I'm particularly pleased with myself for using PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk paints to colour all the leaves and flowers. I'm not usually very good at doing this and generally resort to my Copic pens, but I'm really pleased with the blending and will completely ignore the mistakes! I do hope you have found this post useful. If so, I would really appreciate a brief comment. Thankyou so much for popping by. Until next time, happy crafting! </div>

Gosh, it's been such a long time since I blogged on here despite having several projects that I meant to blog! Tonight I'm linking this post with my project over on the Paperartsy blog <a href="http://blog.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">Here</a>. The current theme is all about 'Shrines' and there have been some wonderfully imaginative interpretations of this theme already. Please take the time to have a look through the last week's blog posts. So inspiring. If you contribute your own idea to the album you are in with a chance to win one of Paperartsy's very unique art aprons!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--lGhEP0GeNA/WzEXprGA38I/AAAAAAAASfM/PvnpWha4aWo_4uR_2IHn7mjlrHBMFjV5gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_8563.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="897" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--lGhEP0GeNA/WzEXprGA38I/AAAAAAAASfM/PvnpWha4aWo_4uR_2IHn7mjlrHBMFjV5gCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_8563.JPG" width="179" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was lucky enough to be able to use a variety of my Lynne Perrella stamps. I used various images from five sets in this project. If you pop over to the paperartsy blog you will be able to see which ones I used. The project started out like this:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ze6AQiFftts/WzEYpJBB95I/AAAAAAAASfU/zLkm-VyZKO8g8pSjHqvIQiGNTg0-smDLgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_8494.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1403" data-original-width="1600" height="280" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ze6AQiFftts/WzEYpJBB95I/AAAAAAAASfU/zLkm-VyZKO8g8pSjHqvIQiGNTg0-smDLgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_8494.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The ATC frame comes ready to assemble from www.calicocraftparts.co.uk a company recommended to me by Julie-Ann Lee - the Queen of mini shrines. The large wooden tag was a fabulous bargain pack of assorted wooden tags from the MDF man. I'm afraid I don't know him by any other name! Lesley Ebdon was the link here, kindly organising a wonderful deal for several of her crafty friends and I was lucky enough to be included. Thanks Lesley! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-R-ly9IOzJQw/WzEaLvWqt2I/AAAAAAAASfg/ccYJlufzGGcWzumkMaDdblUXVIguMQ1tQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_8511.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-R-ly9IOzJQw/WzEaLvWqt2I/AAAAAAAASfg/ccYJlufzGGcWzumkMaDdblUXVIguMQ1tQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_8511.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In order to create the apex of the shrine and hide the tag shape, I had to cut out some greyboard for both sides of the tag and join them with thin strips along the sloping edges. I was pleased with the result but it was fiddly. I then decided to use greyboard and Paperartsy Smoothy 240gms card to create panels to stamp on. If you read the blogpost you will see what a long-winded way I found to do this! Anyway, the main thing is, I was pleased with the result! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9qFkLQnNBhA/WzEbeUHXhpI/AAAAAAAASfs/RnNXVW1qDTAttAH4Howrk37vqIVDydQxwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_8526.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="894" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9qFkLQnNBhA/WzEbeUHXhpI/AAAAAAAASfs/RnNXVW1qDTAttAH4Howrk37vqIVDydQxwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_8526.JPG" width="178" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love the colours I've chosen here. The frames are painted with Fresco China. I love that colour! I've listed the other colours and added more details on the PA blog if you're interested to know which ones I used. Quite typically, Bougainvillea made an appearance. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YH6Qn4klQZA/WzEdMo5KqNI/AAAAAAAASf8/lrPL6sMCSdU-yKY5Znnt1sKuaC6BbnAuwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_8544.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1256" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YH6Qn4klQZA/WzEdMo5KqNI/AAAAAAAASf8/lrPL6sMCSdU-yKY5Znnt1sKuaC6BbnAuwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_8544.JPG" width="251" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The image in the little frame was embellished with beads, gems and German scrap in order to create a rich central focus. I must admit that I rather went to town on adding all of this ephemera. I had a great time looking through my stash to keep to the colour choices I'd made. I really love how the background colours come through the stamped images. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XRf1Hu4zzI8/WzEeru1xjgI/AAAAAAAASgI/-d-vKn8rWQI-USbNDGxAIXEMOUjtDhvigCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_8535.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="785" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XRf1Hu4zzI8/WzEeru1xjgI/AAAAAAAASgI/-d-vKn8rWQI-USbNDGxAIXEMOUjtDhvigCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_8535.JPG" width="157" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Of course by the time I had glued on the label frame and the ATC box shrine, some of these stamped images were a little hidden, but it couldn't be helped. If you have been following the PaperArtsy blog challenge, I do hope you think this is an effective contribution to the theme. Why not have a go yourself! I'd love to see your ideas. Until next time! </div>

Thankyou so much if you have just popped over from my main blog post on the <a href="http://blog.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">Paperartsy blog</a>. Just a quick link post tonight as I'm busy looking after the Grandfairies! The project that I have been working on ties in with the current PaperArtsy blog challenge: Banners and Bunting. I was lucky enough to be asked to use 'Elenazinski' stamp sets, both new and old, for my bunting.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ism3tKPybs8/WtDDlW8AIfI/AAAAAAAARRE/FxlCWg_Hn78cyhEbCrcPRUgVfLP8bmyLACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_7990.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="776" data-original-width="1600" height="155" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ism3tKPybs8/WtDDlW8AIfI/AAAAAAAARRE/FxlCWg_Hn78cyhEbCrcPRUgVfLP8bmyLACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_7990.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
By the time this banner was finished it was so long that I could only take photos in the garden! So, here's a closer view of the circles, perfect size for Elena's sheep. Aren't they cute? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5jzO1LaDJHo/WtDGiJyHqGI/AAAAAAAARR0/vHTM4xv0_kYqiiBvwWlqUgQyYgZGRibyACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_7975.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1392" data-original-width="1600" height="278" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5jzO1LaDJHo/WtDGiJyHqGI/AAAAAAAARR0/vHTM4xv0_kYqiiBvwWlqUgQyYgZGRibyACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_7975.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And now the triangles... Here I used some of the background stamps on her very first stamp set she designed for PaperArtsy. Elena is a fantastic artist and sells all sorts of things in her etsy shop! <a href="http://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ElenaZinskiArt" target="_blank">Here</a>. She's also a very talented writer. I want her to write and illustrate a children's book! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-73Xz5N6tRLE/WtDHaz10kaI/AAAAAAAARSI/s_hSKGPme3o7eGaZjgR7qlshwO1fwp41wCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_7977.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1506" data-original-width="1599" height="301" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-73Xz5N6tRLE/WtDHaz10kaI/AAAAAAAARSI/s_hSKGPme3o7eGaZjgR7qlshwO1fwp41wCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_7977.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The stamps I used were these:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3CJrJflhh04/WtDH1pxbyNI/AAAAAAAARSU/pslRMwwSoYQLQv_tiZpbmyuNxB-IZJLrgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_7926.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="831" data-original-width="1600" height="166" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3CJrJflhh04/WtDH1pxbyNI/AAAAAAAARSU/pslRMwwSoYQLQv_tiZpbmyuNxB-IZJLrgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_7926.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The sheep are one of her new sets. I love all her designs. They are great fun to stamp out and colour in. All my grandchildren have received birthday and Christmas cards using her stamps. For this bunting, I used Paperartsy Fresco chalk paints for all the background layers and Copic marker pens for colouring the images. This is going to adorn my youngest grandfairy's nursery when her mum moves into her new house! I'm sure she will love it! </div>

This linked post with blog.paperartsy.co.uk features my interpretation of the 'Whimsical' theme, using old and new JoFy stamps, PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk paints, Copic marker pens, various stencils and the Gelli plate! I hope you like it. It was great fun to make. Pop over to the PaperArtsy blog <a href="http://blog.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">here</a> to see how I put these blocks together. <a href="https://www.blogger.com/"></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JkWuKE_4kvs/WqWSvUVV0kI/AAAAAAAAQ7g/Ievb0SWZNVAXV8X-Dk_WftSxQE3G0cqWQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_7753.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1012" data-original-width="1600" height="202" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JkWuKE_4kvs/WqWSvUVV0kI/AAAAAAAAQ7g/Ievb0SWZNVAXV8X-Dk_WftSxQE3G0cqWQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_7753.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The blocks are assembled from a kit as you can see here, then gessoed as I originally planned to paint directly onto the blocks to create backgrounds for the stamped images.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YmsbTvKQlkQ/WqWS76k4nII/AAAAAAAAQ7k/jJTa5D4T4ycYj3JmjEoglJef-qW0TJd4wCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_7652.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1588" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YmsbTvKQlkQ/WqWS76k4nII/AAAAAAAAQ7k/jJTa5D4T4ycYj3JmjEoglJef-qW0TJd4wCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_7652.JPG" width="317" /></a></div>
<br />
However, I just couldn't get the vivid colours I was after despite multi layers of paint, dry brushing and blending. So I resorted to my 8" x 10" Gelli plate. I selected colours deliberately to create three colour ways. These were the result!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mM0gwy0H6s0/WqWTJWTyGJI/AAAAAAAAQ7o/X8eqcboCxtER7sHJ54hfLILWopM264IgQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_7677.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mM0gwy0H6s0/WqWTJWTyGJI/AAAAAAAAQ7o/X8eqcboCxtER7sHJ54hfLILWopM264IgQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_7677.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
As well as using various PaperArtsy stencils, I made use of some new Carabelle Studio texture mats that I bought recently. These have been made specifically for use on the Gelli plate. Now, I have always found stencils easy and effective to use on the Gelli plate but these are something else!! The prints they produce are much clearer. I will certainly be investing in a few more of these!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Z7aTbthy5NE/WqWTqM4WmTI/AAAAAAAAQ7w/ETr5jLGKw2gQy9l_29JnjLyrnwycqc_FACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_7680.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1233" data-original-width="1524" height="258" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Z7aTbthy5NE/WqWTqM4WmTI/AAAAAAAAQ7w/ETr5jLGKw2gQy9l_29JnjLyrnwycqc_FACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_7680.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I had great fun creating different scenes on the blocks using a variety of old and new stamps designed by JoFy for PaperArtsy. I particularly love the new set I've used here. I love the doodling around the leaves and flowers. The leaf stamp is a firm favourite already and will appear regularly in my art work from now on.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_Xs2vxAhwGU/WqWUPN3ho4I/AAAAAAAAQ78/-KUuR9KtwAkm4zB3smL-6iQ5MOxNVUyOgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_7714.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="941" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_Xs2vxAhwGU/WqWUPN3ho4I/AAAAAAAAQ78/-KUuR9KtwAkm4zB3smL-6iQ5MOxNVUyOgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_7714.JPG" width="188" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Once I completed the blocks, I decided to use similar scenes on a few cards I needed to make. I particularly like the simplicity of the black and white images. I used Copic markers to colour in all of the stamped images. I love the variety of colours and the easy way they blend. I ended up making quite a few cards with the stamped images left over from the altered blocks, plus a few extras.<br />

I hope your Christmas preparations are going smoothly. I'm at a very 'relaxed' stage, having done all my Christmas present shopping and only just ordering the turkey today from our fantastic, local butcher - who I used to teach, actually! I'm popping by tonight with a short post explaining my latest contribution to Marie's Art journal. I'm currently hosting our third 'cycle' of a collection of art journals that are passed around a 'Circle of friends' month by month. The idea being that each of us complete at least one page of each other's journals before passing them on to the next person in the circle. It's great fun and very inspiring as the journals fill up with the most wonderful art as they progress around the circle. At the end of this cycle, a few of us are meeting up for an arty weekend together in the Peak District. So, what did I complete in Marie's art journal?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Si29aIp5Y-0/WjQ-1qZtUXI/AAAAAAAAQVg/oykaacilT6EPjY485v3R0vzPPdDHRtoYQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_7052.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="899" data-original-width="1600" height="179" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Si29aIp5Y-0/WjQ-1qZtUXI/AAAAAAAAQVg/oykaacilT6EPjY485v3R0vzPPdDHRtoYQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_7052.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I really enjoyed completing this. I chose to use a little three-page booklet inside Marie's journal. The image above are the three inside pages. The theme for this cycle was suggested by Julie Bell, to create our journals with envelopes. It's fascinating to see everyone's different interpretation of this theme. However, a three-page booklet resulted in me needing to complete six surfaces. As you can see, I decided to use some of my huge stash of Lavinia Stamps, available <a href="http://www.laviniastamps.com/" target="_blank">Here</a>. I adore this range. The stamps are really good quality and deeply etched so the prints are always reliable. I decided to use Distress oxides for the backgrounds. Now I'm no expert with these and still learning what products work well/don't work well with oxides. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4R8QFXZ_tzI/WjRAv8Ddx8I/AAAAAAAAQVs/Iu3IzS3TwE8WevP-YzeqFve5uChB6zjfACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_7008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1182" data-original-width="1600" height="236" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4R8QFXZ_tzI/WjRAv8Ddx8I/AAAAAAAAQVs/Iu3IzS3TwE8WevP-YzeqFve5uChB6zjfACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_7008.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
I varied the colour combinations on the inside and outer surfaces and really went to town with my colour blending. I had already cut out a circle as I wanted to create a 'peep-hole' for the viewer to feel they were peeping through a landscape to see the fairies dancing in the moonlight. Well, that was the original plan, I'm not sure I achieved that but I am happy with the result. I hope Marie will be.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QpEZ52huhgk/WjRCEOyXOSI/AAAAAAAAQV8/8tjLWx1IC4o3A6d0OLwtFT_QO-hK3kX4wCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_7013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1511" data-original-width="1600" height="302" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QpEZ52huhgk/WjRCEOyXOSI/AAAAAAAAQV8/8tjLWx1IC4o3A6d0OLwtFT_QO-hK3kX4wCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_7013.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
These are the colours I used for both the outer and the inner layers. I then splashed water across each of the surfaces before drying them off. You can't predict the lovely effects you get but each page was a lovely surprise! Now it was just a matter of creating little fairy scenes for each surface while keeping the main focus on the centre page. It wasn't easy getting the main image absolutely central in the cut out circles but I don't think Marie will mind!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The page above is the first page. I just had to add some glitter to those fairy wings! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And this is the final surface. I do hope you have enjoyed taking a closer look at this little booklet. Marie has Young children and it was with them in mind that I decided to go with this idea. I hope she, and they, will enjoy looking at it. Thankyou for popping by. I would love you to leave a comment. </div>

I wish all of you a very happy Christmas and look forward to another art-filled year in 2018! Until next time! . </div>

I'm here tonight to link up my project for the PaperArtsy <a href="http://blog.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">Blog</a>. This was a real challenge for me as I have never limited my colour palette to variations of white before but I'm so pleased Leandra allowed me to create a project on this theme. I loved making this!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hv2zJfsd6Do/WhagSioBCQI/AAAAAAAAQFk/3vnT3pw8VgEI88rY33wy6JSKyFm-XPfygCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6878.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="742" data-original-width="1600" height="148" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hv2zJfsd6Do/WhagSioBCQI/AAAAAAAAQFk/3vnT3pw8VgEI88rY33wy6JSKyFm-XPfygCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6878.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I didn't set out to create a canvas. I intended to create some Christmas cards as the theme seemed to fit this outcome perfectly. However, once I started to collect bits and pieces from my stash it was clear that I had everything I needed for a Mixed Media spread. Although the challenge theme is 'White on White' or 'Shades of White' I couldn't resist complementing the white with silver. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JYP6f79KqWE/Whahb-JBYoI/AAAAAAAAQFs/O2H9LqL-B4Y1JvkTp1MtoCF9cCeAoLWbwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6798.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1241" data-original-width="1600" height="248" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JYP6f79KqWE/Whahb-JBYoI/AAAAAAAAQFs/O2H9LqL-B4Y1JvkTp1MtoCF9cCeAoLWbwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6798.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The Lynn Perrella images (the sets they are taken from can be seen on the PA blog link) are stamped first in Encore Silver before being embossed with WOW embossing powders. As I explain in the main PA blog post, I 'borrowed' an idea from Lynne Perrella herself to stamp the faces again on PA Smoothy card, again in silver, to cut out and lay over the first embossed face. This has made the faces stand out more clearly. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TklKeFU80QM/WhaikWCn3dI/AAAAAAAAQF0/LqepIN1btZEz6YVhj2GwLFRUKAqfzmMlgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6825.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1108" data-original-width="1600" height="221" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TklKeFU80QM/WhaikWCn3dI/AAAAAAAAQF0/LqepIN1btZEz6YVhj2GwLFRUKAqfzmMlgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6825.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The main colours used to help create these variations of white were: Fresco Chalk acrylic paints in: Chalk, Nougat, Snowflake, and heavy Gesso. I have explained how I created each layer over on the PA blog which you can link to above. I'll leave you with a few close ups, but would love you to pop over to the PA blog as there have been some wonderful creations on this theme over the last fortnight. </div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i_2h-acR-vA/We4ahkcO6qI/AAAAAAAAP48/0bzjlhmHFFAkifNiX6DpUHly5W6yFiUxwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6658.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1140" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i_2h-acR-vA/We4ahkcO6qI/AAAAAAAAP48/0bzjlhmHFFAkifNiX6DpUHly5W6yFiUxwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6658.JPG" width="228" /></a></div>
<br />
I've created my Autumn Shrine using this month's fabulous products inside the October Goodie box. Just look at all of this deliciousness! It's so exciting receiving these boxes each month, each beautifully wrapped and each one based on a theme! There are at least 18 little packs of goodies in each box - more than you get in more expensive but similar items currently on sale and featured on Hochanda.TV. Julie's boxes retail at £21.99 which includes p & p. I honestly don't know how she does it. The value for money is evident here:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--1p_0l_pCgM/We4bpnBk0-I/AAAAAAAAP5Q/k0rsFoB9Pa0HPaldz6vRm-p5JgNVEerYQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6567.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1217" data-original-width="1600" height="243" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--1p_0l_pCgM/We4bpnBk0-I/AAAAAAAAP5Q/k0rsFoB9Pa0HPaldz6vRm-p5JgNVEerYQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6567.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Added to this wonderful selection, Julie always includes the most delicious papers: this month's are the brand new Prima Abermoon papers and notecards. You saw them first here folks! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've used one of the papers and one of the notecards inside the niche in my shrine. But, for a step-by-step explanation of how I put all the elements together, you need to pop over to Julie's blog <a href="http://www.artfuldaysj.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">here</a>. And if you are tempted to buy this month's Goodie box or would like to take out a 3-month or 12- month subscription, you can pop over to the website <a href="http://www.artfuldays.co.uk/" target="_blank">here</a>. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I would love to read your views about my Autumn Shrine or what you think of Julie's Goodie boxes. I expect you've seen quite a few of my samples by now. All feedback is very welcome, including why you would or wouldn't buy one of the Goodie boxes! Thankyou for popping by. Until next time....</div>

I'm back again tonight to link up with a project I made for Artful Days, using some of the gorgeous products in the October Goodie Box: Changing Seasons. And what can be more perfect than a Pumpkin!! You can read through my step-by-step info explaining how I created it over on the Artful Days blog <a href="http://www.artfuldaysj.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Dsp0VkFaejk/WeeorMr3ivI/AAAAAAAAPyY/PwNVMQo4xxg8a9ZuvZ2aNPo5DaWuq3WewCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6599.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1581" data-original-width="1600" height="316" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Dsp0VkFaejk/WeeorMr3ivI/AAAAAAAAPyY/PwNVMQo4xxg8a9ZuvZ2aNPo5DaWuq3WewCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6599.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Almost all of the products you can see are in this month's Goodie Box. Each box is crammed full of wonderful papers, cards, tags, ribbon, paper/silk flowers and a variety of metal and resin embellishments: perfect for a Mixed Media project like this. I started by collecting a variety of products from the box, that I intended to use.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-d9Ou8TI6-xk/Weeq3RbywaI/AAAAAAAAPys/FoFIxmkBweIqGZZlfwMJ5ODDjOu0JMgxwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6580.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-d9Ou8TI6-xk/Weeq3RbywaI/AAAAAAAAPys/FoFIxmkBweIqGZZlfwMJ5ODDjOu0JMgxwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6580.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
I have added a few buttons and the die-cut foliage scrolls from my own stash. Here's a close-up of the pretty embellishments, don't you just love the sheaves of corn?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OW3d3-xv5T4/WeeqS5FVGXI/AAAAAAAAPyk/Cld5ANnwKnEkYFdtHKiSvhQ7-cA4ceYMwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6598.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="815" data-original-width="904" height="288" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OW3d3-xv5T4/WeeqS5FVGXI/AAAAAAAAPyk/Cld5ANnwKnEkYFdtHKiSvhQ7-cA4ceYMwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6598.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I do hope you like what I've made here and will pop over to Julie Bell's blog to see how I put it all together. These wonderful Goodie boxes are available from: www.artfuldays.co.uk - But, you need to hurry, this Autumn box is selling fast. For more ideas and inspiration have a look at the projects made by Katie Lamb and Julie Bell, also featured on the blog. Until next time...</div>

Thankyou for popping by. Perhaps you've hopped over from the paperartsy blog <a href="http://blog.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">here</a>, as this post links with the Paperartsy blog tonight. I've had great fun seeking out all my pearlescent stash to create these Pearly Stars for the new theme: Pearlescent.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3cgunvJ-K4g/WeUKwNp0SYI/AAAAAAAAPtk/Sms4PPI9o3ce8IPUwZBdjSC1yMHuD2s3gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6551.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1591" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3cgunvJ-K4g/WeUKwNp0SYI/AAAAAAAAPtk/Sms4PPI9o3ce8IPUwZBdjSC1yMHuD2s3gCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6551.JPG" width="318" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The stamped images are from Tracy Scott's new Christmas stamp sets, designed for PaperArtsy and can be bought <a href="http://www.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">Here</a>. They are simply drawn images and can be painted, doodled in or stamped over different media, so are pretty flexible. They are perfect for art journaling! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qJOL-v8wqp4/WeUMbi0UvQI/AAAAAAAAPuA/ayknjWGFcI8MCxHyjbrfbNqKisj0DOyVACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6507.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1441" data-original-width="1600" height="288" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qJOL-v8wqp4/WeUMbi0UvQI/AAAAAAAAPuA/ayknjWGFcI8MCxHyjbrfbNqKisj0DOyVACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6507.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started with a layer of gesso as I intended to use PaperArtsy Fresco paints for the backgrounds. The pearlescent part would come later! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OZHPxA_6lKY/WeUNHBroC0I/AAAAAAAAPuM/FQs6p_PevVof0fSUgb0wLKpK83M-3ygpACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6510.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1373" data-original-width="1600" height="274" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OZHPxA_6lKY/WeUNHBroC0I/AAAAAAAAPuM/FQs6p_PevVof0fSUgb0wLKpK83M-3ygpACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6510.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used DecoArt Tinting base to help produce light and darker areas as a foundation layer.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fiF-EUIvEHo/WeUNuyDFAWI/AAAAAAAAPuY/_Cw5Qj3NiM4UkXEsbFgEpLqkQhi1PwOuwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6511.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1565" data-original-width="1600" height="313" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fiF-EUIvEHo/WeUNuyDFAWI/AAAAAAAAPuY/_Cw5Qj3NiM4UkXEsbFgEpLqkQhi1PwOuwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6511.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I then used a darker shade to add a little depth.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HXqAA-yD8lo/WeUOei0-J4I/AAAAAAAAPuk/wZDmJkvzpEEfIGlRUyKnZ3EN9vQ_cp7KQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6515.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1490" data-original-width="1600" height="297" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HXqAA-yD8lo/WeUOei0-J4I/AAAAAAAAPuk/wZDmJkvzpEEfIGlRUyKnZ3EN9vQ_cp7KQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6515.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I then used the colours I had already used, plus an even darker shade, Baltic Blue, to add some stencilling. Don't you just love that 'Jade'? That's from one of Tracy's limited edition sets. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yWvk9pbVkU0/WeUPHOvvPKI/AAAAAAAAPu0/kTru327vnnUUPfWHx1l3bgZ6Kp-OG6sMACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6520.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1508" data-original-width="1600" height="301" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yWvk9pbVkU0/WeUPHOvvPKI/AAAAAAAAPu0/kTru327vnnUUPfWHx1l3bgZ6Kp-OG6sMACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6520.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For a final layer, and to introduce some white areas, I used a new Stencil PSO70. They are such pretty snowflakes, I think that will be well used this year! I painted the reverse of each star with Baltic Blue. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pDt5TecB_Bo/WeUP8VDRWzI/AAAAAAAAPu8/HnW38OEhTDczv0EgvrdFk2dfF1hiMWJ2gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6527.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1182" data-original-width="1600" height="236" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pDt5TecB_Bo/WeUP8VDRWzI/AAAAAAAAPu8/HnW38OEhTDczv0EgvrdFk2dfF1hiMWJ2gCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6527.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The remaining two stars were painted with reds, pinks and oranges as a complete contrast to the blue. I was originally going to place complementary stamped images on top of the stars but, in the end, opted to keep with the tone on tone. So far, I have only used chalk paint so I now needed to search out some pearlescent paints for my stamped images. I could have added pearl glaze to the Frescos but I'd recently bought some pearlescent paints so I decided to try them out. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KPl5-S4hOfY/WeUSWnneIVI/AAAAAAAAPvQ/qo7QKLNDFXQn0MWDPTrlBWCjhbNn75mbwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6530.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KPl5-S4hOfY/WeUSWnneIVI/AAAAAAAAPvQ/qo7QKLNDFXQn0MWDPTrlBWCjhbNn75mbwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6530.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used Lustres paints by Colourcraft CSA Ltd. These are very pearlescent but it is difficult to show this in a photo. I used three colours for both colour families, just swooshing across some Smoothy PaperArtsy 240gms card. They blend beautifully. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ka1fVyGkkBk/WeUTh1vdYBI/AAAAAAAAPvc/uPnbiJH4QTQSHR_8swizyS1zEMdBhoC_gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6532.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="993" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ka1fVyGkkBk/WeUTh1vdYBI/AAAAAAAAPvc/uPnbiJH4QTQSHR_8swizyS1zEMdBhoC_gCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6532.JPG" width="198" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hopefully, this will give you a better impression of the gorgeous sheen on this card. There are silvery streaks appearing here and there. Delicious. Using almost all of the images from the two sets: ETS12 and ETS13, I stamped with black Archival across the pearlised sheets. I had made several copies in both colour ways. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J-5Yuc8VGCk/WeUUoVPpyUI/AAAAAAAAPvk/c5zbHcwWDqkXcByiXUJ1tpCHzWjW8x8CQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6536.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1362" data-original-width="1168" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J-5Yuc8VGCk/WeUUoVPpyUI/AAAAAAAAPvk/c5zbHcwWDqkXcByiXUJ1tpCHzWjW8x8CQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6536.JPG" width="274" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now I just needed to cut them out! It didn't take too long actually, so I was able to assemble them on each star fairly quickly. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8U-C_tLwDw8/WeUVfWpks5I/AAAAAAAAPvs/PT1-oGy34ugOwZDZoCADxI5pAWLAXGN0gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6543.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1288" data-original-width="1600" height="257" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8U-C_tLwDw8/WeUVfWpks5I/AAAAAAAAPvs/PT1-oGy34ugOwZDZoCADxI5pAWLAXGN0gCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6543.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once they were glued and layered, I was able to add even more pearlescent products on top.to create some dimension on the spots inside some of the stars and circles, I mixed some modelling paste </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
(Golden) with some pearlescent 'Silkies'. I'm not sure who produced these as I've had them for some time, but they are Acrylic Glazes. I'm pretty sure Finnabair was using them at some point. These produced some lovely shimmery little domes over the spots! I also used Ranger's Liquid pearls to add little beads of colour here and there. Now, apart from a little doodling, they were pretty much complete. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ap2At7ZSPqA/WeUYiczYbzI/AAAAAAAAPv4/CZeaEyXiBxEmkHj0usRVjMRg6TNGYn6OwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6556.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="640" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ap2At7ZSPqA/WeUYiczYbzI/AAAAAAAAPv4/CZeaEyXiBxEmkHj0usRVjMRg6TNGYn6OwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6556.JPG" width="127" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used some Tim Holtz chain links to connect them, one to the other, and Hey Presto, they were ready to hang. I do hope you like this Christmas wall-hanging and have been inspired to search out your pearlescent stash and take part in this fortnight's challenge. Thankyou so much for popping by! Until next time, happy crafting! </div>

I'm linking this post to tonight's PaperArtsy blog post on the new theme of 'Glitter'. You can pop over <a href="http://blog.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">here</a>. All the cards I've made for this particular blog challenge are intentionally simple, with my own little Grandfairies in mind! They are also full of glitter!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PsBOhhYjRFQ/WdIhuwqflfI/AAAAAAAAPiI/Iz-BXXroaCECmeD1beCKcw8Mxj_OahAqgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6454.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1126" data-original-width="1600" height="225" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PsBOhhYjRFQ/WdIhuwqflfI/AAAAAAAAPiI/Iz-BXXroaCECmeD1beCKcw8Mxj_OahAqgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6454.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The stamps I've used to create all of these are made by Paperartsy, available <a href="http://www.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">here</a>, and designed by 'Elenazinski Art', sets: ZA17 and ZA19, although I also pinched a couple of images from two earlier sets. I've explained this over on the PA blog. The first ones I made were these cute pop-up cards. These boxes are very easy to make. I found the instruction for these on the SCOR-IT-ALL website, but I'm pretty sure you can buy them ready made. The Zinski images are perfect for this type of card. I love these totem images! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XWuTSMJRLGQ/WdIk4Tv92iI/AAAAAAAAPiU/LWFZhiqxnX8gCsQkuu1Oj4UytHFTAyrsACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6410.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1258" data-original-width="1600" height="251" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XWuTSMJRLGQ/WdIk4Tv92iI/AAAAAAAAPiU/LWFZhiqxnX8gCsQkuu1Oj4UytHFTAyrsACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6410.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Copic markers were great for colouring in these images, and they are easy to cut out. Add a bit of glitter and they are ready to be glued to the painted lolly sticks (bought cheaply from 'The Works'), and they were ready to be assembled. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2-QfM-0smDs/WdImvKXfiVI/AAAAAAAAPig/XpWPqf6BSkwuaw6COn6cFSeYtD62Ur_YwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6465.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1240" data-original-width="1600" height="248" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2-QfM-0smDs/WdImvKXfiVI/AAAAAAAAPig/XpWPqf6BSkwuaw6COn6cFSeYtD62Ur_YwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6465.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These are cleverly constructed to lie flat for posting. I just have to find envelopes to fit now! An even more simple card to make was using the funny reindeer face that reminds me of a clown.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QgpYz0Tg_cI/WdInkR3qOiI/AAAAAAAAPio/fpbEoZOChtkZHTB7Ah7CaNeABH7XW58WQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6451.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1564" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QgpYz0Tg_cI/WdInkR3qOiI/AAAAAAAAPio/fpbEoZOChtkZHTB7Ah7CaNeABH7XW58WQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6451.JPG" width="312" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used various dies to create these cards. The bauble is a Spellbinders die as is the inner, glittery ring/circle die. The holly is from a Tim Holtz Christmas die: Holiday Lampost from his Alterations sets by Sizzix. I've added a bit of glitter to the top attachment and on the reindeer face along with some 'Flower Soft' by Katy Sue designs, on his nose. I've used Crafty Njotions foil applied with Indigo Blu flitter glue on the inner ring. I've finished it all off by adding Ranger's stickles in Christmas red to create the berries on the holly, and a couple of red gems on his eyes. Oh and I added some Christmas words with a white gel pen. So easy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-plxbL1ewjdY/WdIqUi-ya8I/AAAAAAAAPi0/l0y92-8ij6EHFQDOht9yFJT0EIB44h2SACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6450.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="848" data-original-width="813" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-plxbL1ewjdY/WdIqUi-ya8I/AAAAAAAAPi0/l0y92-8ij6EHFQDOht9yFJT0EIB44h2SACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6450.JPG" width="306" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Using ready made papers produces quick cards as I only had to colour in the images and add a border with my gel pens. However, as my dear Crafty friend, Linda Regan, well knows, I do find it hard to use any of the beautiful papers we both love to buy. My favourite papers are by Crafty Individuals and Pion papers, which I think are Swedish. I buy the Pion papers from WhichCraft. These are the ones I used on these cards. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yLQfxNz0rtk/WdIsV9DCQKI/AAAAAAAAPjA/JCofqZbOjegR6UfybhaSAm-ybsjjLdl7wCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6453.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1050" data-original-width="1062" height="316" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yLQfxNz0rtk/WdIsV9DCQKI/AAAAAAAAPjA/JCofqZbOjegR6UfybhaSAm-ybsjjLdl7wCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6453.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These images are so cute. This is just one card made with the Pion papers. You can see the others I made over on the PA blog. I'm not sure if you are ready to start on your Christmas cards yet, but if you are, this fortnight's challenge theme on: Glitter, should definitely get you in the mood. Until next time...Thankyou so much for stopping by! </div>

There have been some fabulous creations during the past fortnight which I'm sure has inspired many crafters to make their own books! Have a look at them <a href="http://blog.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JxtHJTSBhrQ/WZnM5aVC3uI/AAAAAAAAPNs/5rAaLMlyXJ4T_xqovXNpmxE4uHzU47vuACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6186.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="584" data-original-width="1600" height="116" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JxtHJTSBhrQ/WZnM5aVC3uI/AAAAAAAAPNs/5rAaLMlyXJ4T_xqovXNpmxE4uHzU47vuACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6186.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Once I had completed the box cover and the back of this concertina booklet, I was able to get on with the main reason for making it. I chose photos of all five granddaughters to cover each 'page' of the booklet. It would be too fussy to create a background for the photos in the same way as I had completed the box and reverse of the booklet, so I decided to get out the Ranger Oxides and PaperArtsy Infusions to create some backgrounds to mount the photos on. PaperArtsy Infusions are available in many colours <a href="http://www.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wqNEEmgVIp4/WZnOgk0E1lI/AAAAAAAAPN4/vaCJWA2SeaQWAMm0RW1xJtTatA8wf-QfQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6160.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wqNEEmgVIp4/WZnOgk0E1lI/AAAAAAAAPN4/vaCJWA2SeaQWAMm0RW1xJtTatA8wf-QfQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6160.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I used various colours and used Tim Holtz's swoosh technique i.e. Squidge some of the oxides across a craft mat, then spray with water and dab some paperArtsy Smoothy 240gms card through the watery ink. It's best to dry your first inky smears before adding more colours. Always remember to dab rather than swoosh though to get the best effect. The original Distress inks are great for swooshing, these are best if you dab! Another language isn't it? I'm no expert with these Oxides or very proficient with the dab technique, but I was successful enough to be able to choose seven that would be useful for the booklet pages. However, I wasn't finished yet.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J0BnWfS8-A4/WZnRM0owCnI/AAAAAAAAPOA/I31Xojzh3tsrJqnbvGxRV49yQfk63xF8ACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6174.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1430" data-original-width="1600" height="285" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J0BnWfS8-A4/WZnRM0owCnI/AAAAAAAAPOA/I31Xojzh3tsrJqnbvGxRV49yQfk63xF8ACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6174.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I decided to add some of the gorgeous PaperArtsy Infusions on top of this base layer of Oxides. There are so many colours now to choose from. I selected colours that would complement the Oxides. In my post on the PaperArtsy blog I have explained which colours I chose. Have a look <a href="http://blog.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">here</a>. My post was blogged last Friday. There are several ways to use the Infusions but I used the technique where I lightly sprayed over the Oxides with water, then sprinkled a very small amount in the areas I most wanted to cover. I avoided the middle as that is where I would place the photos.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-knet4J7LtJU/WZnUNhnccdI/AAAAAAAAPOI/d4gxKkLeJf0YJqTufzNP9TIGBsmwlP6CACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6166.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="701" data-original-width="1600" height="140" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-knet4J7LtJU/WZnUNhnccdI/AAAAAAAAPOI/d4gxKkLeJf0YJqTufzNP9TIGBsmwlP6CACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6166.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Before mounting the background papers to the booklet, I painted around the edges with Fresco Bubblegum, and stencilled over that with Fresco Tango through a PaperArtsy stencil. I then mounted each photo onto black card before positioning each one on the seven pages in the concertina booklet.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zg5zi0OHbdc/WZnV2TtBFaI/AAAAAAAAPOQ/nLU9pPodYcwqYWYT8sCLqO4DG4_9rolYgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6188.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1301" data-original-width="1600" height="260" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zg5zi0OHbdc/WZnV2TtBFaI/AAAAAAAAPOQ/nLU9pPodYcwqYWYT8sCLqO4DG4_9rolYgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6188.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
My final step was to use some of the gorgeous stamped images from Tracy Scott's sets from PaperArtsy (again these are shown on the PaperArtsy blog) and place these around each photo. I will add journaling later. So there we have it. My completed Book-in-a Box which I have loved making and will be displayed on the bureau in the Dining room for all to see. Thankyou so much for joining me, especially if you have visited the three posts explaining how I made this project. Until next time...<br />

Many thanks to everyone who 'liked' and commented on this project last night and today. You are such lovely, encouraging people. As promised, here is part 2 of the step by step explaining how I put the booklet together. This links to my PaperArtsy project that you can see <a href="http://blog.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">Her</a>e.if you missed it yesterday.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YO3fh1aEiyU/WZhyp9eJo9I/AAAAAAAAPLA/qlb0KBac7DwRDLL-tN71y9G3Pt7WDogSQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6143.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="662" data-original-width="1600" height="264" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YO3fh1aEiyU/WZhyp9eJo9I/AAAAAAAAPLA/qlb0KBac7DwRDLL-tN71y9G3Pt7WDogSQCKgBGAs/s640/IMG_6143.JPG" width="640" /></a> </div>
I made the box and the back of the booklet alongside each other so many of the steps which I explained yesterday are also true for tonight's explanation, so I shall try not to repeat myself!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G4aJWifYBCs/WZiA4HZkEkI/AAAAAAAAPMs/CGg-QKF6lcIprqQaB4oghUcrqkL8kXwtQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6113.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1581" data-original-width="1600" height="395" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G4aJWifYBCs/WZiA4HZkEkI/AAAAAAAAPMs/CGg-QKF6lcIprqQaB4oghUcrqkL8kXwtQCKgBGAs/s400/IMG_6113.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
These were the colours I started with. All PaperArtsy Frescos of course.<span style="text-align: center;"> </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yxiisj4GFgk/WZiBa9HxAaI/AAAAAAAAPMw/beyQS6aUUckbO_-DycK3yZKBPgVF-YWbgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6122.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="823" data-original-width="1600" height="205" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yxiisj4GFgk/WZiBa9HxAaI/AAAAAAAAPMw/beyQS6aUUckbO_-DycK3yZKBPgVF-YWbgCKgBGAs/s400/IMG_6122.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
As you can, before I laid down the first layer of paint, I ripped up some vintage papers from a fairy tale book. This was serendipitous as it fitted so well with the idea of displaying my five granddaughters' photos on the reverse of this side of the booklet. The story was: The Dancing Princesses. It couldn't be more fitting so I used the title to the chapter as a title for the booklet. Once the paint layer was dry, I used some Golden 3D gel through a bubble stencil in various parts of the entire surface. The final result is lovely because the gel glistens when it catches the light where it's displayed. I'm so glad I did this!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gaLO0USF_uM/WZh3NkoLyoI/AAAAAAAAPLw/84NTrupe3FwfSCRJ9f4J8-s2fRrPvLN9QCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6117.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gaLO0USF_uM/WZh3NkoLyoI/AAAAAAAAPLw/84NTrupe3FwfSCRJ9f4J8-s2fRrPvLN9QCKgBGAs/s400/IMG_6117.JPG" width="298" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A closer look! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-drXjdZC-8dM/WZh3xgRV0oI/AAAAAAAAPL4/F0PAfg8H0zQ74XHn_CDMqdIUYw3IIlnTwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6127.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1410" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-drXjdZC-8dM/WZh3xgRV0oI/AAAAAAAAPL4/F0PAfg8H0zQ74XHn_CDMqdIUYw3IIlnTwCKgBGAs/s400/IMG_6127.JPG" width="352" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now I began a stencilled layer using various PaperArtsy stencils and a couple of Stencil Girl ones. As with the booklet, I carried on adding complementary colours, but also introducing some Fresco China to contrast against the Reds, yellows and pinks! All the stencils were chosen with the children in mind. They are still very young and I wanted that to come through in the way I decorated it all. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8cghyl5EzWk/WZiCo8wgTmI/AAAAAAAAPM8/A0SxRnTahFoReMOC-31loITkC9X_5AO9gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6145.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="871" data-original-width="1600" height="217" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8cghyl5EzWk/WZiCo8wgTmI/AAAAAAAAPM8/A0SxRnTahFoReMOC-31loITkC9X_5AO9gCKgBGAs/s400/IMG_6145.JPG" width="400" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After stencilling I used Tracy Scott's first stamp set that she designed for PaperArtsy to stamp and colour various images across the booklet. I used Ranger Distress Crayons for this. I also added </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
various marks using bottle caps and lids, then coloured these with various gelatos in complementary colours. I love the transparency of these. Finally, I added some doodling with black Pitt pens and uniball white gel pens. I also used some paint pens to produce stronger colours in various parts of the stamped images. I just love those flower images in the stamp set. These are available to buy <a href="http://www.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">here</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, there we are. I do hope you have enjoyed reading through my process. I will be back again tomorrow night to show you how I used a mix of Ranger Oxides and PaperArtsy Infusions to complete my mixed media project. Until then...</div>

I have loved using Tracy Scott's stamp sets to create this 'Book in a Box' project. The stamps are fabulous for art journaling. I'm sure many of you will know her work. She's one talented lady!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DwpUAxweZWw/WZcS_WfrX9I/AAAAAAAAPI4/NWE7ym1F3KkVBK1IPS6Cx0w1emXWPBRXgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6195.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1268" data-original-width="1599" height="253" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DwpUAxweZWw/WZcS_WfrX9I/AAAAAAAAPI4/NWE7ym1F3KkVBK1IPS6Cx0w1emXWPBRXgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6195.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This project took me about four days to complete and I loved every minute I spent on it! I used my favourite PaperArtsy Fresco chalk paint colours. If you saw my blog post yesterday, this project has used virtually all the same ones. I always use a lot of colours, particularly bright ones, when I'm journaling and really, this journaling technique is what I have used on the box itself as well as the concertina book inside! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o_uF7AT7CA0/WZcUlkpbrEI/AAAAAAAAPJE/gzb86KWOmtcdrLpTDySpwgr13iYTvC4KACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6159.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1265" data-original-width="1600" height="252" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o_uF7AT7CA0/WZcUlkpbrEI/AAAAAAAAPJE/gzb86KWOmtcdrLpTDySpwgr13iYTvC4KACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6159.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I do think that in order to explain the steps I took to complete this project, I need to spread this explanation over 2/3 posts. So, tonight, I'm going to focus on how I created the box. Tomorrow, I will explain how I created the back of the concertina booklet and on Sunday I will explain how I completed it to display photos of my five gorgeous Grandfairies! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0Iwn-6Tgscw/WZce2R01wfI/AAAAAAAAPKc/wbsmhJwa9qEdU7BwYjjRZ8wXauoSN3esACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6104.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0Iwn-6Tgscw/WZce2R01wfI/AAAAAAAAPKc/wbsmhJwa9qEdU7BwYjjRZ8wXauoSN3esACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6104.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This will give you an idea of all the paints I started off with - I added more colours later, before adding gelatos and PaperArtsy Infusions to the mix. A veritable Mixed Media project. So, how did I begin? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-g0FI1STmq3c/WZcWni5b6kI/AAAAAAAAPJQ/QpJMe1yvHE4z1eMHPcxuvQ7watNdKMY3gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6105.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1244" data-original-width="1600" height="248" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-g0FI1STmq3c/WZcWni5b6kI/AAAAAAAAPJQ/QpJMe1yvHE4z1eMHPcxuvQ7watNdKMY3gCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6105.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started with just a couple of Fresco paints after gessoing both the box and the booklet on both sides. I love these colours! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ghT9sq-VfSk/WZcXJR-MRjI/AAAAAAAAPJY/e1w8EwcxTAQiOiroK_iPpHGi5t7_XFxywCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6107.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1270" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ghT9sq-VfSk/WZcXJR-MRjI/AAAAAAAAPJY/e1w8EwcxTAQiOiroK_iPpHGi5t7_XFxywCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6107.JPG" width="253" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then, as I often do, I used some papers I had in my stash and ripped them up to add a layer of collage. These were so pretty and fitting for the purpose I wanted to leave some of the paper design showing through at the end. I also used some modelling paste (Golden) through a stencil randomly over the surfaces, including the sides. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mRU3Myf7-lE/WZcYjfJbZGI/AAAAAAAAPJk/bKKMxEWYKHA32awV06ocZwr3bAO9re4TwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6113.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1581" data-original-width="1600" height="316" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mRU3Myf7-lE/WZcYjfJbZGI/AAAAAAAAPJk/bKKMxEWYKHA32awV06ocZwr3bAO9re4TwCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6113.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These are the colours I used to paint over the collage for the next layer as well as both sides of the concertina booklet. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6vFw_9jvtbM/WZcZzSOsAHI/AAAAAAAAPJw/CztURzDprh4-YFjNE-znSW588VaCM45NACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6124.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="933" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6vFw_9jvtbM/WZcZzSOsAHI/AAAAAAAAPJw/CztURzDprh4-YFjNE-znSW588VaCM45NACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6124.JPG" width="186" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next stage for both cover and booklet was to add a layer of stencilling. I have explained which ones I used over on the PA blog, but you can see many of them in the photo. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KJEUywS-2ws/WZcbEXmJMRI/AAAAAAAAPJ8/OWGbnjXjBm4Z5BYip7Mb5ajrcZ_7Cr6XQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6133.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1172" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KJEUywS-2ws/WZcbEXmJMRI/AAAAAAAAPJ8/OWGbnjXjBm4Z5BYip7Mb5ajrcZ_7Cr6XQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6133.JPG" width="234" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Following a lot of stencilling, I added some more marks with gel pens and bottle lids dipped first in Fresco Snowflake, then Little Black Dress. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S-rB_cjgNBc/WZccBpSGEXI/AAAAAAAAPKE/-AnwPmJk_EUrj2tN5R0aFe2VoblhbltOQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6151.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="878" data-original-width="732" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S-rB_cjgNBc/WZccBpSGEXI/AAAAAAAAPKE/-AnwPmJk_EUrj2tN5R0aFe2VoblhbltOQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6151.JPG" width="266" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Finally, the most fun part, was using Tracy's very first stamp set (and my favourite) to add a layer of stamping. I used gelatos to add colour within the stamped circles as I love the translucent effect over the previous layers. The other stamped images were coloured with Ranger Distress pens.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-d-tweJ51r2E/WZcdZFR77lI/AAAAAAAAPKQ/7BrKnvsYobkcfKDRhEcO5pPRs24TNeNVQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6153.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1058" data-original-width="844" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-d-tweJ51r2E/WZcdZFR77lI/AAAAAAAAPKQ/7BrKnvsYobkcfKDRhEcO5pPRs24TNeNVQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6153.JPG" width="255" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And this is the reverse. I love Tracy's quirky stamp images and I really love that border strip. I do hope you've enjoyed seeing how this came together and I look forward to showing you how I made the booklet that fits inside tomorrow night. I do hope you will join me again! Until then...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lsnzLZ3JHBw/WZceW5X-qJI/AAAAAAAAPKY/asoE0VQAiCwUhEhiybsNxV8txkAaA133QCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6196.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1164" data-original-width="1156" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lsnzLZ3JHBw/WZceW5X-qJI/AAAAAAAAPKY/asoE0VQAiCwUhEhiybsNxV8txkAaA133QCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6196.JPG" width="317" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Pop over to the PA blog and have a look at all the wonderful, creative books that have been made over the past fortnight. I'm sure you will be inspired to have a go yourself. If you missed my blogpost yesterday, do have a look as I created a mini version of a concertina book in a tin! I love making mini books. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'd love you to comment below and let me know your thoughts!</div>

Well, I should be in York today with my older two Grandfairies but the visit has been postponed to next week as the forecast was 60% chance of rain! Fingers crossed its better next week.<br />
I've had a lovely few days art journaling and completing some projects for PaperArtsy! The current theme is 'Book making' and although I'm no Wendy Mallas, I do love making journals and mini books in boxes and tins. So, after I'd finished a larger (took me ages) blog project for PA (due to post tomorrow at 7pm so please visit <a href="http://blog.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">Here</a>), I was hooked on making another, even smaller, booklet. I had already seen a post by Birgit Koopsen where she created a mini book to doodle in. I loved that idea so I made my own version using PaperArtsy Fresco chalks and lots of PA stencils. All available <a href="http://www.paperartsy.co.uk/" target="_blank">Here</a>.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R8QYuF6_710/WZV3Cy_WPNI/AAAAAAAAPGc/tK8g3lrmT9I0U7NAs92zhqB1TWinwNJRgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6283.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1187" data-original-width="1600" height="237" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R8QYuF6_710/WZV3Cy_WPNI/AAAAAAAAPGc/tK8g3lrmT9I0U7NAs92zhqB1TWinwNJRgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6283.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
I started with the tin!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VxmUlpmXl_o/WZV3sdj_tFI/AAAAAAAAPGk/w38H2JFGpY0U6mr57RwixtV7BoCX_RD-wCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6246.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VxmUlpmXl_o/WZV3sdj_tFI/AAAAAAAAPGk/w38H2JFGpY0U6mr57RwixtV7BoCX_RD-wCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6246.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
After two or three coats of gesso, I used a dry brush technique to add some of my favourite colours. This is for me so I was definitely going to use my favourite colours.<span style="text-align: center;"> </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mH-Uzgj368k/WZWBH2CacVI/AAAAAAAAPH8/5PiwjC_t1IsTnA8PyzrL5iE5M_dycVGcQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6252.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1245" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mH-Uzgj368k/WZWBH2CacVI/AAAAAAAAPH8/5PiwjC_t1IsTnA8PyzrL5iE5M_dycVGcQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6252.JPG" width="249" /></a></div>
As you can see from the lid, after an initial layer of paint, I started adding some PA stencil layers.<br />
This one is PSO15. Then, lots more<span style="text-align: center;"> .</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jixhH9xT3UE/WZWAXLtW6YI/AAAAAAAAPH0/P0holVGRXcIjrh4Wm5frjzAZdJ3K-nynQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6253.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1513" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jixhH9xT3UE/WZWAXLtW6YI/AAAAAAAAPH0/P0holVGRXcIjrh4Wm5frjzAZdJ3K-nynQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6253.JPG" width="302" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The one I have layered on top here is a mini stencil PM008. Next, I mixed some Bougainvillea Fresco chalk paint with some Golden modelling paste and pressed this through the middle of Tracy Scott's fab stencil PSO53.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JMRi6PlV1_I/WZV6vEKcDOI/AAAAAAAAPHE/EQVHSL1eOooBAM7Wh3RhYqGRf1oS8okRgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6254.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1348" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JMRi6PlV1_I/WZV6vEKcDOI/AAAAAAAAPHE/EQVHSL1eOooBAM7Wh3RhYqGRf1oS8okRgCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6254.JPG" width="269" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This was left to dry overnight while I started on the mini concertina booklet that would go inside. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xWRuh9sG54w/WZV8LgSwbII/AAAAAAAAPHQ/e7h96487XycARqemSqee0Ca3Yl_68fjewCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6255.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1311" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xWRuh9sG54w/WZV8LgSwbII/AAAAAAAAPHQ/e7h96487XycARqemSqee0Ca3Yl_68fjewCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6255.JPG" width="262" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used Bockingford Watercolour paper 140ibs and managed to get three strips out of one 10" X 14" page Each section measured 3" X 3".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cyS-usqp4eI/WZV-JKyPDZI/AAAAAAAAPHc/TBFwminmEnQRFtm09ewcoV0FAWtuFJibQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6258.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1366" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cyS-usqp4eI/WZV-JKyPDZI/AAAAAAAAPHc/TBFwminmEnQRFtm09ewcoV0FAWtuFJibQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6258.JPG" width="273" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These strips were then attached to create one continuous concertina strip. Now, the fun part. This took a lot of painting. Dry brushing again to help blend the colours. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7YR2E7_eBxQ/WZV-16WvFmI/AAAAAAAAPHg/9A3H_iQ-EhkRo_fuFE9xmoFzxwb3bWVsQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6265.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1551" data-original-width="1600" height="310" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7YR2E7_eBxQ/WZV-16WvFmI/AAAAAAAAPHg/9A3H_iQ-EhkRo_fuFE9xmoFzxwb3bWVsQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6265.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, on top of this base layer of blended paint, I selected lots of stencils. Mostly PaperArtsy stencils but also a selection of Crafters Workshop, Clarity and Dylusions. After all, I had a lot of surface to stencil and although I intended to add some stamping this was intended to be mainly stencilled as I intend to doodle over the top. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N583nwVJkSE/WZWBg696y_I/AAAAAAAAPIA/RYoz-nwvnewU6MAXGTjbm5Ek3Ka_jBc6ACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6269.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="718" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N583nwVJkSE/WZWBg696y_I/AAAAAAAAPIA/RYoz-nwvnewU6MAXGTjbm5Ek3Ka_jBc6ACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6269.JPG" width="143" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cUstb3rtqIs/WZWCpJ80VbI/AAAAAAAAPII/Sh2Aw5gpe34aPuYYTWRuca9nS7Nxd9r0ACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6281.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; text-align: center;"><br /></a>I used several colours to stencil over the base layer, varying the sections with light and dak colours. I wanted to leave plenty of opportunity to doodle on each section</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nOM1ldeiVrE/WZWGPtHQGdI/AAAAAAAAPIU/uCSy4_azArcoM4KtgKXRHglTVMTKO-70gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_6281.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1233" data-original-width="1600" height="246" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nOM1ldeiVrE/WZWGPtHQGdI/AAAAAAAAPIU/uCSy4_azArcoM4KtgKXRHglTVMTKO-70gCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_6281.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
And there we are! All ready for me to while away a few spare hours, especially waiting at the school gate for my Grandfairies to come out, and doodle to my heart"s content. I've already doodled on top<br />
fo the coloured modelling paste on the tin lid, using a uni ball white gel pen although that will need to be sealed. I do hope you like my little booklet. I love it!<br />
